英語ができない私が、自身の詩を英語で表現したい。（Part１）

昨年書いた未発表の詩の中で、英語で表現できたらいいなと思い、ずっと考えている詩があります。ただし、私は英語ができません。

いつのまにか

手を結び　

歩む道に花が咲き　

頬伝い　

落ちた涙が潤す大地　

曖昧なままがいい　

知らずに進む道がいい　

いつの間にか気づかず　

いつのまにか安らかに眠る　

最近は「英語は面白いのではないか」と思っています。

そこで翻訳ソフトで下記の英文を作りました。

Before I knew it

hand in hand.

flowers bloom on the way you walk.

Along the cheek

The earth moistened by fallen tears.

It's good to remain vague.

The way to go without knowing is good.

Without realizing it.

Before I know it, I will sleep peacefully forever.

そもそも英語で詩のニュアンスを表現するにはどうしたらいいのか、正解が見えません。

で、「ChatGPT」。

Before I knew it

we clasped hands,

flowers bloomed on the path we walked,

tears that fell along my cheeks

moistened the earth.

It's okay to remain vague,

It's okay to continue on a path without knowing.

Without realizing it,

we peacefully fall asleep before we know it.

Before I knew it=いつの間にか。この訳は一緒ですね。

hand in hand=協力して。
we clasped hands=私たちは手を握りしめた。

2行目はflowers bloom on the way you walk=歩く途中で花が咲きます。flowers bloomed on the path we walked=私たちが歩いた道に花が咲いた。

Along the cheek The earth moistened by fallen tears= 頬に沿って、落ちた涙で湿らせた地球。
tears that fell along my cheeks moistened the earth=私の頬に沿って落ちた涙が地球を湿らせた。

などと試行錯誤。

なぜ英語なのか、例えば「broken heart」ていう響きや文字がカッコいい。訳すと「破れた心。失恋。失意。」です。なんか詩的に感じるのです。そういった英語は多い。外国の方が漢字にカッコよさを感じる感覚と似ているかもしれません。

これ「ChatGPT」でいけるのではないかと思っています。

まだまだ英語の勉強が必要ですが、英語に慣れるところからの「start」です。
