目標とする人格 (Goal Personality)

最近自分の大切にしたい心を貫けていない。
大切にしたい心、それは「思いやり」の心。
Recently, I have not been able to carry out the heart I want to treasure. The heart I want to treasure, is the heart of "thoughtfulness".

「相手の立場になって、相手を自分ごとのように大切にする」
"Put yourself in the other person's shoes and treat them as if they were yourself."

それが思いやりの境地である。
だが、いまは境地どころか、一歩目にも立てていない。
自分の利益だけ。損得勘定をして生きている。
This is the state of thoughtfulness.
However, I have not even reached the first step.
I'm living only for my own benefit.
I've been a mercenary person all along.

理由の一つとして、見返りを求めてしまっていることが挙げられる。
「思いやり」をつくしても、相手は何もしてくれない。
自分だけやって損をしている、という考えがある。
これは確かに難しいこと。一般的に見ると当たり前ですらあると思う。
One of the reasons for this is that I'm looking for something in return.
Even if I do my best to be thoughtful, the other person will do nothing for me.
I think that I am the only one who does it and I'm wasting my energy.
This is indeed a difficult thing to change.
I think it is even commonplace in general.

でも、自分が考えるべきことは違うところにある。
それは、相手を幸せにしている自分に幸せを感じること。
その時点で幸せであれば、見返りを求めなくて済む。
もうすでにもらっているから。
But what I should be thinking about is in a different state.
It is to feel happy about myself making the other person happy.
If I'm happy at that point, I don't have to ask for anything in return.
Because I have already received it.

客観的に見るとおかしい。ただの自己満足と思われるかもしれない。
でも、人生なんて結局「自己満足」と「世間体」のバランスで成り立っている。
周りをきにしすぎてもいきづらい。自我を通しすぎても周りから人は離れる。
Objectively speaking, it is strange. You may think it is just self-satisfaction. But in the end, life is a balance between "self-satisfaction" and "public appearance".
It is difficult to live if you are too concerned about the people around you.
If you are too self-centered, you'll be left alone.

じゃあ幸せの定義くらい自分で決めていいと思う。
自己満足でいいと思う。
まわりに迷惑をかけていない限りは、この考えを貫いて自分で幸せを決めたい。
So I think I can decide my own definition of happiness.
Self-satisfaction is fine.
As long as I am not causing trouble to others, I want to stick to this idea and define my own happiness.

「思いやる幸せ」。
これをテーマに人生を生きていく。
"Happiness in thoughtfulness."
I will live my life with this as my theme.
