OHAO PROJECT×ウクライナ大使館学びのフェア：開催後の活動報告

本日、学びのフェアでウクライナチャリティーを開催しました。

昨年に引き続き、お料理先生のタラスさんと大使館文化部の三等書記官であるインナさん、そしてサポートとしてカトリーヌさんが、ウクライナ料理のビネグレットとフレチャニイスープを子どもたちと一緒に作ってくださいました。

ビネグレットは、ビーツ、ジャガイモ、ニンジンを細かく刻んで、ピクルスも加え、オリーブオイル、塩、ビネガーで味付けしたシンプルな料理です。ビーツの鮮やかな赤紫色がとても美しかったです。日本人にとってはあまり馴染みのない食材かもしれませんが、食べてみると驚くほど食べやすく、美味しかったです。栄養も豊富で、皆でおかわりしながら楽しんで食べました。ビーツを刻む経験は子どもたちにとってウクライナ料理の思い出となったことでしょう。

フレチャニイスープは、鶏肉を丁寧に煮込んで、ジャガイモとニンジンを加え、そばの実で煮込んだスープです。お肉の旨みと優しい野菜の味、そしてそばの実の香りがほっとする温かさをもたらしてくれました。こちらもおかわりをする人が多く、みんなでたくさんいただきました。

また、ウクライナの文化講座では、子どもたちがインナさんの問いかけに積極的に答え、ウクライナ語の練習やウクライナの様々な伝統、日本との違いなどを分かりやすく教えていただきました。インナさんの故郷であるキーウの美しい街並みや、戦争後の変わり果てた様子を写真で見せていただき、参加者はどんな感想を抱いたでしょうか。

Today, we held a Ukraine Charity event at the Learning Fair.

Continuing from last year, cooking instructor Mr. Taras and Ms. Inna, Third Secretary of the Cultural Department at the Embassy, along with support from Ms. Catherine, prepared Ukrainian dishes, Vinaigrette and Fretchaniy Soup, together with the children.

Vinaigrette is a simple dish made by finely chopping beets, potatoes, and carrots, adding pickles, and seasoning with olive oil, salt, and vinegar. The vibrant red-purple color of the beets was incredibly beautiful. While beets might not be familiar to Japanese people, they found them surprisingly easy and delicious to eat. We enjoyed it immensely, with everyone going for seconds. Chopping beets will surely become a cherished memory of Ukrainian cuisine for the children.

Fretchaniy Soup is made by simmering chicken thoroughly, adding potatoes, carrots, and buckwheat groats. The rich flavor of the meat, the gentle taste of the vegetables, and the aroma of buckwheat created a comforting warmth in the soup. This, too, was a favorite among the participants, with many going for extra servings.

During the Ukrainian culture workshop, the children actively participated in answering Ms. Inna's questions, practicing Ukrainian language, and learning about various Ukrainian traditions and differences between Japan and Ukraine. Viewing pictures of Ms. Inna's hometown Kyiv's beautiful streets and the drastically changed cityscape after the war, participants must have felt various emotions.

This event was held as a charity initiative. We sincerely thank everyone who contributed. We also extend our best wishes to those who couldn't join us due to health reasons. We express heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Inna, Mr. Taras, and Ms. Catherine for their assistance amidst their busy schedules. We look forward to future events with the Ukrainian Embassy.
