ファミリーマートでCBDドリンクが発売される！？

まさか日本国内のファミリーマートでCBDドリンクが買えるようになるの！？？

ちょっとビックリした海外発ニュースについてになります。

大麻取締法もあり規制も厳しいこの日本国内でCBDドリンクが発売されるんでしょうか？
ちょっと検証してみました。


発端は2019年1月18日にリリースされた、下記Forbesのニュース記事みたいですね。
 

◉New Age Beverages CEO On Marley CBD Drinks◉

New Age Beverages Corporation is producing and distributing a line of Marley+CBD drinks, according to a release on Wednesday.

The first drink, Mellow Mood, is already sold as a relaxation tea, but the new version will have CBD. Marley+CBD Mellow Mood is packaged in a 15.5 ounce can in flavors herbal honey, lemon raspberry or peach raspberry, with 25 mg of pharmaceutical grade CBD per serving.

Brent Willis, CEO of New Age Beverages and a former Coca-Cola and Anheuser-Busch InBev executive, calls CBD “one of the biggest opportunities to hit the consumer goods industry in years,” he said.

New Age Beverages plans to be the leader in CBD health drinks.The Colorado and Utah-based company creates healthy beverages, including the current Marley line, Tahitian Noni, TeMana, Búcha Live Kombucha, XingTea, Coco-Libre and others. Its brands are currently sold in all 50 states and over 60 countries internationally.

In just two years, New Age Beverages has become one of the 40 largest non-alcoholic beverage companies, one of the largest healthy beverage companies, and the fastest growing one worldwide, with its stock recently rising from a market cap of $50 million to over $400 million.

Marley Natural, the official cannabis brand of Bob Marley, based on his life and legacy, was developed in 2016 by his estate and Privateer Holdings, which develops cannabis industry brands. The brand’s Marley Natural marijuana is grown in California.

Marley’s ethos of love, peace and understanding is “really congruent to what we stand for as a company,” Willis said.

“I was Coca Cola’s youngest president in 120 years. At the time I was really proud. Honestly, today I’m ashamed because, in truth, that stuff is diabetes in a can,” he said. “We can make a difference against that. We can be proud of what we’re doing. We’re the 40th largest company in the world because we’re purpose driven, out to do the right thing.”

The first market rollout for Marley+CBD is in Colorado, Oregon, Washington, and Michigan where cannabis is legal. Now that hemp is legal nationally, rollout will continue.

“As new markets open up we want to be first,” Willis said.

Since October 2018, over 125,000 national accounts and distributors have signed on to sell Marley+CBD Mellow Mood. Significant demand for CBD drinks is expected in 2019, with the U.S. market for CBD drinks expected to reach $260 million by 2022, according to analysts at Canaccord Genuity.

At last week’s Winter Fancy Food Show in San Francisco, New Age Beverages received orders and pre-orders from grocery retailers across the U.S., regardless of location and including international orders. FamilyMart stores, based in Japan, will also carry the product, which will start shipping in March, Willis said.

“It was unlike anything id ever seen,” he said.

New Age is also establishing the CBD Association, the industry’s first, working to educate retailers and consumers about a product that’s largely unbacked my scientific evidence so far.

“We’ve been really methodical in our approach because we want to be an industry leader, and as an industry leader we think you have a certain responsibility to lead responsible communication, lead efficacious product standards [with] the right dosage, and be a leader in every respect,” he said

ニューエイジビバレッジ社は、サンフランシスコで開催されたFood Show（食品系の展示会）に参加してCBD入りドリンクをアピールしていた模様です。

展示会で世界各国の企業からの注文や取引申請を受け付けていて、その中の企業のひとつにファミリーマートがあったみたいです。

確かに世界レベルで考えるとCBDドリンクというものは珍しいものではありません。つい最近でもエリクシノール社からCBDチョコレートも発売が国内でされました。ただ価格はチョコレート１個で2000円弱となかなかのお値段です。

もし今回のニュースが本当であれば、個人的にはインパクトがあると考えています。

あのコンビニ大手のファミマで CBDドリンクが発売されるとなると、もう否応なしにCBDについての注目度がグッと上がるはず。

日本人にも身近に大麻（マリファナ）、CBDの存在が感じられるようになると思われます。

ただ、もしかしたらファミマは台湾、中国、タイなどアジア展開をしているので、海外販売から始めるのかもしれません。
