FLesh and Blood Samurai, Kakegawa, Japan

遠州大爆札

Summer, 2024. What does it mean to be FaB player. To devote yourself utterly to a set of deck principles. To seek a stillness of your gameplay. And to master the way of the card.

The Warrior

I started playing Flesh and Blood TCG in June 2024, when MST; the fisrt booster pack that became available in Japanese, was launched. The very next day or two of I purchased the Blitz Pre-Con deck;Zen, I hit the closest local store, looking to fight the Armory event. The FaB official web claims, it is "Casual play". Hence, I grab the deck and drove to the store. 
I got wrecked in a raw and have just learnt how the game flow. The three Romans that I fought against might have recorded the day; I came, I saw, I conquered.

Three months have passed from the day. A doezen and more of the armory events, I have participated. What had changed in the third months was that I banned Zen before LSS bans Zen. The tiger-pokemon master never won any matches for two months. I ended up firing him before the summer holiday. It is rather ironic that he was blamed to be too strong or game breaking, and finally hard-nerfed plus expelled from Blitz. The fact tells that what can be observed in the top end may not be applicable to the low end. 

Note: the true Bonds Zen said to deal 50 damage per a turn, which is totally absurd and is broken as they said.  My Zen deck hardly dealt 20 per a turn, while it still was a defenceless aggro deck.

It was not Satoshi or Pikachu. I sucked and the deck completely sucked. 
By the time I gave up playing Zen, I had opened 2boxes+ of MST and 1box+ HP1. What those brought me were 1 Chase the tail and 1 Art of war. And I probably replaced 10-20 cards from the Pre-Con deck and had no upgrades for the armour pieces.

I realized how bad my deck was when i faced the Zen mirror. The opponet had the Shuko boosting his tiger every turn and the extra energy gained from Kasaya and the worst part was the Zen state for two terns. He was not even a Bonds Zen and I had no chance against the tiger zen with my cats.

No country for bigginer men

The mirror match was decisive. It highlighted the reality that, unless forgetting about the Japanese release and buy up the English single cards online, Armory event here is not really playable, where half the dudes show up with full of power cards from the old English packs; CnC, E-strike, Tunic and such. In the meantime, I had never seen any welcome event or teaching event hosted in the area, at least none found in the past three months. i.e. No place for bigginers.
The situation has been problematic. I was compelled just fighting every Armories as there were no other contents. That has been my FaB life.

Go Wild

In August;the third month, I started to stand in chances. What caused? It was the product called Armory deck. They sell three kinds of those and any of them said to be good for the bigginers. I bought the Kayo deck, just becase I liked the claw pairs used for the cunning ganking in Albion Online; the MMO I played in the past decade. I would say that my deck power finally reached the minimum level required in my local area. The brute is Wild. I did further add Bloodrush bellow and Beast within, the deck can potencially deal 30 damage/turn.

Future

I could break through the very first barrier. I really hope the potencial FaB players in the region also will without too much frustrations.
Unfortunately, I must say the local FAB situation isn't great yet. But I want to help improving it somehow. Posting about the Flesh and Blood TCG is the one of the things I decided to do, to encourage people try FAB.

I will forcus on reporting local FaB infomation from mid eastern Japan, and most of my posts will be written in Japanese. That said I might continue posting some in English, if it is found out to be meanIngfull.

The future, oldman talk of is the most obsoleted dream.

In the next post, I may further talk about the local area; Kakegawa-city and  Ensyu; western Shizuoka province.
