Kyrie is the Latin form of the vocative κύριε of the Greek κύριος (kyrios - lord), meaning "Lord". Also, "Kyrie" (or "Kyrie Eleison") is one of the important prayers in Christian worship. In the Japanese Catholic Church, as the liturgy was translated into Japanese after the Second Vatican Council, it was called the Hymn of Mercy. In the Japanese Orthodox Church, it is translated as "Lord, have mercy."
Kyrie は、「主」を意味するギリシャ語 κύριος (kyrios - lord) の呼声 κύριε のラテン語形です。また、「キリエ」（または「キリエ・エレイソン」）はキリスト教の礼拝における重要な祈りの一つです。日本のカトリック教会では、第二バチカン公会議後に典礼が日本語に翻訳されたため、いつくしみの賛美歌と呼ばれるようになりました。日本正教会では「主よ、憐れんでください」と訳されます。
