[１８日 ロイター] - フランスで５月に開催されるカンヌ国際映画祭は、宮崎駿監督の作品などを製作するスタジオジブリに、その功績をたたえ「名誉パルムドール」を授与すると明らかにした。団体への同賞授与は初めてという。
公式サイトに掲載された発表によると、同映画祭は授賞理由について「米ハリウッドの巨匠らと並び、宮崎駿氏と高畑勲氏という２人の優れた製作者が過去４０年にわたりアニメ映画に新風を吹き込んできた」と説明した。

[18th (Reuters)] - The Cannes Film Festival to be held in France in May has announced that Studio Ghibli, which produces films by director Hayao Miyazaki, will be awarded the ``Honorary Palme d'Or'' in recognition of its achievements. This is the first time this award has been presented to an organization.
According to an announcement posted on its official website, the film festival gave the award, saying, ``Along with the greats of American Hollywood, two outstanding filmmakers, Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata, have brought a new lease of life to animated films over the past 40 years. パルム・ドール（仏: Palme d'Or、Golden Palmae。「黄金の椰子」）は、カンヌ国際映画祭（1946年 - ）における最高賞である。
日本の作品では、『地獄門』（衣笠貞之助監督）、『影武者』（黒澤明監督）、『楢山節考』『うなぎ』（それぞれ今村昌平監督）、『万引き家族』（是枝裕和監督）の5作品が受賞している。
