Sake in Japan(1) What makes Sake "Japanese"?

The relationship between Sake and Japanese people should start with how Japanese people have a strong psychological attachment to rice. Rice is the staple food for Japanese people and is even used as a salary. The market dealt with rice as the object of a forward transaction. Until the modernization, or even now, rice's stable market value had been the most critical issue in the domestic economy for the government.

Sake, made from such an important crop, is also considered an alternative to rice. The word "sake" generally describes "alcohol beverages." The word sake covers both fermented sake and Shochu, distilled rice spirits. It's a part of the fertile spirits, and taking sake means almost equal sharing the harvest from the god. It implies that disregardful treat against sake is considered a sort of religious taboo.
