一時限目
音読よる速読のトレーニング
長文の英文を読了したタイムを記録しながら、毎日音読するという課題が課せられています。英文を読んでいく速度にスピードが求められています。このトレーニングは、英語をそのままつかみとっていく訓練です。辞書を引くことも、翻訳することも禁止されています。意味不明の英文も、何十回と音読していくと次第にその意味が鮮明に理解されていきます。
この音読によるトレーニングは肉体を改造していくことでもあります。まず口です。英語を話すには英語口をつくらねばなりません。音読によってその英語口がつくられていきます。さらに早い速度による音読、そして黙読によって、塾生たちの目が日本語目から英文を読む英語目になっていきます。このようなトレーニングを続けることによって次第に英語脳がつくられていきます。
 
二時限目
ヒヤリングとスピーキングのトレーニング
このレッスンで取り組むテキストは、日記、学校生活、家族や家庭、日常生活、旅行、スポーツと、多様なテーマが百四十のレッスンで構成されています。塾生は塾のある日まで、その日のテキストになる章のCＤを百回以上聞いて、レッスンに備えます。英語耳をつくっていくトレーニングです。英語は日本語耳では聞き取れません。塾でのレッスンは、塾生が一対一で向き合って暗誦した章を、対話者に向かって互いにスピーチします。
 
三時限目
対話レッスン
《草の葉メソッド》の核心のレッスンに入っていきます。一時限目、二時限目のレッスンは他者によってつくられたテキストですが、三時限目のレッスンは塾生がつくったテキストによって行われます。塾生自らつくるテキストは、塾生が表現したいこと、他者と対話したいことを、本文と対話編という構成で作成されます。書き上げた日本語のテキストを、翻訳ソフトを使って英文に翻訳します。その英文を自分の言葉とするために完璧にそらんじて、塾の対話レッスンに備えます。
 
対話レッスンはスポーツに例えるとテニスです。テニスコートに立って対戦者と英語というボールを互いに打ち合うというレッスンです。目の前に英語のボールが飛んでくる。その飛んできたボールを打ち返す。一瞬でそのボールを打ち返さなければなりません。打ち返さなければそこで会話はストップします。とにかく話せ、単語を並べるだけでいい、どんなに文法的に間違っていてもかまわない、そんなことは全然気にするな、とにかくどんなデタラメ英語でもいいから話しなさい。「草の葉メソッド」はそう言って生徒たちを励ますメソッドです。
 
人間が言葉を獲得していくのは、子供たちを見ればよくわかります。子供たちは思ったことをどんどん話します。話したいことを話します。叫びたいこと、苦しいこと、喜んでいることを懸命に話します。圧倒的な量の言葉を話します。その言葉が間違っていようがいまいがとにかく話していきます。人間はこうして言葉を獲得していくのです。話すという行為、表現するという行為によってその言葉が自分の言葉になっていく。これが「草の葉メソッド」の思想です。
 
4時限目
ライティングのレッスン
レッスンの最後は、二時限目に発表したテキストの全文をライティングするトレーニングです。その英文を何十回と書いて手に覚えさせていきます。英語という言語を自分たちの言葉にするためには、英語のスペルを完璧に書ける英語手をつくだす必要があります。スペルが一字でも間違っていたらやり直しです。完璧に書けるまで何度もやり直しさせられます。
 
中学生たちが運営していく私塾
《日本英語の私塾》は塾生たちが主役です。トレーニングするテキストは塾生たちがつくります。レッスンの時間はすべて塾生たちが英語で対話する時間です。あるいは塾生たちがさまざまなイベントを組み立てます。例えば、父母や友人を招待して英語によるディべート大会とか、夏休みは英語だけで組み立てる合宿とか。《日本英語の私塾》に入塾した活力あふれる中学生たちは、このような活動を展開していくでしょう。
 

Japanese English private school lesson

《Japanese English Private School》is a place for self-study to create a foundation for speaking English freely. Lessons progress under a certain curriculum, but in those lessons, students themselves become teachers who guide themselves, and students who train themselves. Therefore, there is no such thing as a teacher in this private school. Instead, there is a facilitator who takes the role of facilitator of the lesson, and the role of the facilitator is to support the self-study that the students progress at their own speed.
The two-hour lesson once a week will unfold as follows.

First period
Speed ​​reading training by reading aloud
We are tasked with reading long sentences aloud every day while recording the time we finish reading them. Speed ​​is required for the speed of reading English. This training is a training to grasp English as it is. Neither looking up a dictionary nor translating is prohibited. Gradually, even if you don't understand the English sentence, you will be able to understand the meaning clearly by reading it aloud dozens of times. This training by reading aloud is also to remodel the body. First is the mouth. To speak English, you have to make an English mouth. The English mouth is made by reading aloud. Furthermore, by reading aloud at a faster speed and reading silently, the eyes of the students will change from Japanese to English. By continuing this kind of training, the English brain will gradually be created.

Second period
Listening and speaking training
The texts addressed in this lesson consist of 140 lessons on various themes such as diary, school life, family and home, daily life, travel, and sports. Students prepare for the lesson by listening to the CD of the chapter that will be the text of the day more than 100 times until the day of the cram school. It is a training to make English ear. You can't hear English with your Japanese ears. In the lesson at this cram school, the students face each other one-on-one and recite the chapters from memory to the interlocutor.

Third period
Dialogue lesson
Let's get into the core lesson of the Leaf of Grass Method. The 1st and 2nd period lessons are based on textbooks created by others, but the 3rd period lesson uses textbooks created by Juku students. The texts created by the students themselves are composed of the main text and dialogues, which express what the students want to express and what they want to have a dialogue with others. The written Japanese text will be translated into English using translation software. In order to make the English sentence your own words, you will prepare for the dialogue lesson at Juku class’s lesson.

Dialogue lessons can be compared to sports like tennis. This is a lesson in which you stand on a tennis court and hit a ball called English with your opponent. An English ball flies in front of you. Hit back the flying ball. You have to hit the ball back in an instant. If you don't hit back, the conversation will stop there. Just speak, just line up the words, it doesn't matter how grammatically wrong it is, don't worry about it at all, just speak any kind of bullshit English. The "Leaf of Grass Method" is a method that encourages students by saying that.

It is easy to understand that humans acquire language by looking at children. Children say what they think. Say what you want to say. Talk about what you want to scream, what is painful, and what makes you happy. Speaks an overwhelming amount of words. Whether the words are wrong or not, they will speak anyway. This is how humans acquire language. The act of speaking, the act of expressing, the words become your own words. This is the idea behind the “Leaves of Grass Method”.

4th period
writing lesson
The end of the lesson is a training to write the text that was announced in the second period. You’re going to write the English dozens of times and memorize it in your hand. In order to make the English language our own language, we need to develop an English hand that can spell English perfectly. If you misspelled even one letter, try again. You'll have to redo it over and over again until it's perfect.

A private school run by junior high school students
In 《Japanese English Private School》, students are the main characters. The training texts are created by the students. All lesson time is a time for students to talk in English. Alternatively, the students organize various events. For example, they can invite their parents and friends to a debate competition in English, or summer vacation camps where they organize everything in English.
