COVID-19 cases in Japan appear to have risen slightly after the government downgraded the classification of the infectious disease to a lower-risk category May 8, the health ministry said Friday.

While downgrading COVID-19 under the infectious disease control law from Category II to Category V, the same as seasonal flu, the ministry switched to a fixed-point monitoring system to receive COVID-19 case reports from some 5,000 designated medical institutions nationwide, from the previous system of counting all recognized infection cases.

In the week through Sunday, the number of new infection cases reported by the institutions totaled 12,922, or 2.63 cases per institution, up 1.46-fold from the previous week, according to preliminary data released by the health ministry.

"The gradual upward trend since April is continuing," the ministry said.

By prefecture, the number of infection cases per institution stood highest in Okinawa, southernmost Japan, at 6.07, and lowest in Kochi, western Japan, at 1.27.

新型コロナが「5類」に移行してから
初めて「定点把握」に基づく感染者数が公表されましたね

引用記事に添付されていたグラフを見ると、4月以降も感染者数は微増であるということがわかりました💦

5月８日からは全国約５０００の医療機関から報告を受ける定点把握に変更していることもありますが、相変わらず新型コロナウイルスは見えない強敵であると思いますね

健康第一なので
手洗い、うがい、規則正しい生活を意識して
