I gave Ichito a new model of smartphone as a Christmas present.

The first time I gave him a smartphone was when he was in the second grade of elementary school, and for the five years since then, he has used it with great care, even though it has become very slow.

I feel it has been very good that we have been able to think together about how to use smartphones and tablets and how to use the internet in a way that leads to happiness, rather than imposing restrictions on their use.

In the case of the phone change this time, it was great that I could explain to him how to purchase the phone, switch the line, set up applications, back up data, and transfer electronic money, and he was able to do it all himself, while we exchanged opinions about the points to keep in mind and the risks involved.

La primera vez que le regalé un smartphone fue cuando estaba en segundo de primaria, y durante los cinco años que han pasado desde entonces, lo ha utilizado con mucho cuidado, aunque se le ha vuelto muy lento.

Creo que ha sido muy positivo que hayamos podido reflexionar juntos sobre cómo utilizar los smartphones y las tabletas y cómo usar Internet de una manera que nos lleve a la felicidad, en lugar de imponer restricciones a su uso.

En el caso del cambio de teléfono esta vez, fue estupendo que yo pudiera explicarle cómo comprar el teléfono, cambiar de línea, configurar aplicaciones, hacer copias de seguridad de los datos y transferir dinero electrónico, y que él pudiera hacerlo todo por sí mismo, mientras intercambiábamos opiniones sobre los puntos a tener en cuenta y los riesgos que conlleva.
