Have you heard of the pianist Valentina Lisitsa? I'm ashamed to say I didn't know that until I came across this video. I'll start with a little bit of background information.
ピアニストのヴァレンティーナ・リシッツァをご存じでしょうか？お恥ずかしながら僕は知らなかったのです、この動画に出会うまでは。ではちょっとだけ来歴を。
Biography:
She is a Ukrainian-born pianist. She started playing the piano when she was 3 years and 8 months old. It seems that after only one year of learning, she was able to give a solo concert. She steadily honed her skills as a pianist at the Lysenko music school and the Kyiv Conservatory.
It was also at the Kyiv Conservatory that she met her future husband, Alexei Kuznetsoff. Together they participated in The Murray Dranoff International Double Piano Competition, the world's premier competition for two pianos, which they won in 1991.
Then in 2006, her husband Kuznetsoff posted a video of Lisitsa performing a Chopin Etude on YouTube, which was a big breakthrough. Valentina Lisitsa's abilities as a pianist became widely known throughout the world.
彼女はウクライナ生まれのピアニスト。ピアノを始めたのは3歳8ヶ月の頃。習い始めてたった1年でソロコンサートを開いてしまうほどだったようです。ルイセンコ記念キエフ特別中等音楽学校、キエフ音楽院と順調にピアニストとしての技術を磨いていきます。
また、キエフ音楽院ではのちに夫となるアレクセイ・クズネツォフと出会います。二人は、1991年には二人で世界最高峰の２台ピアノのためのコンクールであるマレイ・ドラノフ国際2台ピアノコンクールに出場し、見事優勝を果たしました。
そして2006年に夫のクズネツォフがリシッツァの演奏するショパンエチュードの動画をYouTubeに投稿し大ブレイク。ヴァレンティナ・リシッツァはピアニストとしての実力を世界に広く知られることとなります。

It was very astonishing. Delicate and intense, clear and even sound grain, great intonation and pedaling, supple fingers... Ahhhh, I can't describe it enough!
