NHKドラマ「ライジング若冲」で、一味違う伊藤若冲を観た。　In the NHK drama "Rising Jakuchu", I saw a different kind of Ito Jakuchu.

NHKの正月ドラマ「ライジング若冲〜天才かく覚醒せり〜」を見て感動した一人である。
天才絵師 伊藤若冲と、若冲の絵の才能を見出し生涯支え続けた僧侶 、後に相国寺住職になる大典顕常僧侶にスポットあてたドラマである。歴史書物などで若冲を紐解くのとひと味違ったものだった。

He was one of the people who was impressed by watching NHK's New Year drama "Rising Jakuchu ~ Genius Kaku Awakening ~". This drama focuses on the genius painter Ito Jakuchu, the priest who discovered the talent of Jakuchu's paintings and continued to support him throughout his life, and the Daiten Kenjyo priest who later became the chief priest of Sokoku-ji Temple. It was a bit different from unraveling Jakuchu in history books. 

ドラマでは円山応挙、池大雅が絡み、そこに元萬福寺僧侶で煎茶を日本に広めた先駆者である売茶翁が加わり、今までにない見応えのあるドラマになっていた。

In the drama, Maruyama Okyo and Ike no Taiga were involved, and Baisao, a former Manpuku-ji priest who spread sencha to Japan, joined the drama, making it an unprecedentedly spectacular drama.

ストーリーもさることながら映像的に美しさを追求したドラマはそう多くない。ロケ場所は分からないが、ストーリーの中心的場面として語られていたのが京都の臨済宗相国寺である。

There are not many dramas that pursue beauty in terms of images as well as stories. I don't know the location, but the central scene of the story was the Rinzai Sect Sokoku-ji Temple in Kyoto. 

江戸時代の中期に、若冲は大典僧侶から依頼をうけ、30幅からなる動植物を描いた彩色画「動植綵絵」を相国寺に寄贈している。
明治に入り、諸事情で相国寺が貧窮した折に、動植綵絵の大半を、当時の宮内省が買上げ相国寺を救ったと言われている。それらの絵は、現在、三の丸尚蔵館に所蔵されている。

In the middle of the Edo period, Jakuchu donated a colored painting "Doshokusaie", which depicts animals and plants of 30 widths, to Sokoku-ji Temple at the request of a priest of Daiten. It is said that when Sokoku-ji was in poverty due to various reasons in the Meiji era, most of the paintings were purchased by the Imperial Household Ministry at that time and saved Sokoku-ji. These paintings are currently in the Sannomaru Shozokan.

相国寺は、五山文学を代表する禅僧や、如拙、周文、雪舟らの日本水墨画の規範を築いた画僧を多く輩出し、日本の文化芸術面でも牽引した寺院である。訪ねた際は、必ず法堂の天井に描かれている鳴き龍の名で有名な「蟠龍図(ばんりゅうず)」や、伊藤若冲、円山応挙、長谷川等伯、池大雅などの絵や文化財が収蔵されている承天閣美術館にも立ち寄る。機会があれば、足を運んでみてください。

Shokoku-ji is a temple that has produced many Zen priests who represent the Five Mountains literature and who have established the standards for Japanese ink painting such as Josetsu, Shubun, and Sesshu, and has also led the Japanese culture and arts.
Whenever you visit, there are paintings and cultural assets such as "Banryuzu", which is famous for the crying dragon drawn on the ceiling of the temple, Ito Jakuchu, Maruyama Okyo, Hasegawa Tohaku, and Ike no Taiga. Also drop in at the Shotenkaku Museum of Art, where is stored. If you have a chance, please come visit us.
