南禅寺、「寺格五山之上」の風格。三門楼上から「絶景かな、絶景かな」と見得を切る。 【南禅寺Ⅰ】 Nanzenji, the style of "Temple Gozannoue". From the top of Sanmonro, you will get the view that you have a wonderful view.
京都の臨済宗系の禅寺には五山之制というものがある。京都五山の寺格を表すものらしい。何をもって格付けをしているのかはわからないが、長い歴史の中でその制度が形成されたもののようである。
第一位格にあたるのが右京区嵐山にある天龍寺、第二位格が上京区の相国寺、第三位格が下京区の建仁寺、そして東山区の東福寺、万寿寺と続く。
では、左京区にある南禅寺はどの格なのかというと「寺格五山之上」ということのようだ。いうならば五山之上だから最上級の位格である。
The Zen temple of the Rinzai sect of Kyoto has the Gozan-no system. It seems to represent the temple of Gozan in Kyoto. I don't know what the rating is, but it seems that the system was formed in a long history.
The first rank is Tenryu-ji in Arashiyama, Ukyo-ku, the second rank is Sokoku-ji in Kamigyo-ku, the third rank is Kennin-ji in Shimogyo-ku, and the Tofuku-ji and Manju-ji in Higashiyama-ku.
Then, it seems that Nanzen-ji in Sakyo-ku is called "Temple Gozanshijyo". In other words, it is Gozansshijyo, so it is the highest rank.
かれこれ50年近く前に初めて南禅寺を訪れたとき、見たことない時代を超えた建造物、そしてその荘厳な美しさに魅了され、寺好きのキッカケをつくってくれたのがこのお寺である。だから、いまも時間があれば足しげく通っている。
When I visited Nanzen-ji Temple for the first time nearly 50 years ago, I was fascinated by the timeless structure that I have never seen and its majestic beauty, and it was the temple that made me love the temple. is there. So, if I have time, I often still go there easily.
筆者同様に、訪れた人の誰しもが思うであろう、静寂さの中に荘厳で雄大な眺望が広がる。南禅寺を訪れて最初に驚くのが三門の大きさ。20m以上の高さから眺める京都はまた美しい。この楼上で、石川五右衛門が景色をみて、「絶景かな、絶景かな」と見得を切ったのは有名な話である。
As with the author, the magnificent and magnificent view spreads in the tranquility that any visitor might think. The first thing that surprises me when visiting Nanzen-ji Temple is the size of Sanmon. Kyoto seen from a height of more than 20m is also beautiful. It is a famous story that Ishikawa Goemon saw the scenery on this tower and decided that it was a superb view.
その楼上の天井や柱・梁には、狩野派の狩野探幽や土佐派の土佐徳悦が描いた飛天や鳳凰が残されている。
やはり、どこをとってみても整っている。そして美しい。最上級位と評され南禅寺の姿を改めて感じた。
On the ceiling, pillars, and beams on the tower, there are flying heavens and phoenixes drawn by Kano Tanyu, a Kano sect, and Tokuetsu Tosa, a Tosa sect.
After all, no matter where you take it, it is in place. And beautiful. It was reputed to be the highest grade, and I felt again the appearance of Nanzen-ji Temple.
