白梅の美しさが春のはじまりを告げる The beauty of white plum blossom tells the beginning of spring

立春を迎えたが、まだまだ寒中まっただ中。
先日、京都へ行った折に、錦天満宮にお詣りした。
梅の香が漂っていた。
まだまだ寒い侯に、春の萌しを感じた。

It's spring, but it's still cold.
The other day, when I went to Kyoto, I visited Nishiki Shrine.
There was a scent of plum blossoms.
I felt the sprouting of spring in the still cold weather.

その際に、思い出されたのが林和靖の「山園小梅(さんえんしょうばい)」。
「疎影横斜水清浅」という一節と、その対句になる「暗香浮動月黄昏」である。
枝が垂れ下がり、まばらに咲く花の姿が水面にうつし出されている。
そして続く「暗香浮動月黄昏」は月もおぼろの黄昏どきに、梅の香りがどこからとなく香ってくる。姿は見えぬが梅の存在を感じさせる。
梅を愛する林和靖の、隠逸の悲哀を詠った詩の一節であるが、梅を水面に映る姿で、また黄昏どきに香で美しさを表現している。

At that time, I was reminded of Lin Bu's "Sanen Shobai".
There is a passage called " The shadow is horizontal and the water is clear and shallow " and the antithesis, " dark incense floating moon twilight ".
The branches hang down, and the appearance of sparsely blooming flowers is projected on the surface of the water.
And the following "dark incense floating moon twilight" is the twilight of the moon, and the scent of plum blossoms from somewhere. I can't see it, but I feel the existence of plum blossoms.
It is a passage of a poem by Lin Bu, who loves plum blossoms, about the sadness of the secret, but the beauty is expressed by the appearance of the plum blossoms reflected on the surface of the water and the incense at dusk.

写真では、本殿脇に吊るされている提灯のほのかな灯りに、生き生きと咲く白梅の美しさが春のはじまりを教えてくれているようだった。

In the photo, the faint light of the lanterns hanging beside the main shrine, and the beauty of the lively blooming white plums seemed to tell us the beginning of spring.
