書斎から眺めた「極上の満月」。　 【一茶庵追想】 "The finest full moon" seen from the study.

月が見えない隠栖した書斎から月を眺める。
それが、京都・黄檗山萬福寺で開催された「月見の煎茶会」の文人会一茶菴の題目だった。

View the moon from a hidden study where the moon is invisible.
That was the subject of the bunjinkai Issa-an at the Tsukimi Senchakai held at Obakusan Manpuku-ji in Kyoto.

一茶菴の煎茶ステージは禅道場である「法堂」。ここが書斎として設えられた。

The sencha stage of Issa-an is "Hatsuto", a Zen dojo. This was set up as a study.

その設えの棚のテーマが「索隠(さくいん)」。索隠とは隠された真理を探し出すこと。俗世から離れ、書斎で本に勤しみ月を愛でながらお茶を楽しむ。そんな中から真理を探し出そうという設定だった。

The theme of the shelves is "Sakuin". Searching for the hidden truth. Away from the mundane world, reading a book in the study and enjoyed tea while enjoying the moon. It was a setting to seek out the truth from such a situation.

棚の横にある花木も庭に咲いているものだと想像し、雁の鳴声を聞きながら「雁が音」(お茶の名前)を味わう。これぞ至福のひとときである。

Imagine that the flowers and little trees next to the shelves are also blooming in the garden, and while listening to the sounds of the wild geese, you can taste the "geese singing" (the name of tea). This is a blissful time.

そして、お軸がわりに広げてある帖(じょう)は、一茶菴宗家の、当代から四代前の昇玉宗匠が書いた「千字文(せんじもん)」。中国の六朝時代に子供の漢字ドリル使われていたものを帖に書き写したものである。

In addition, the Japanese paper scroll, which has a shaft, is the "Senjimon" written by Shogyoku, a master of the four generations ago from present age. It is a copy of what was used for children's kanji drills in the Six Dynasties of China.

外は、すでに陽が落ちている。夜空に見えるは満月。そんな情景をお客様と共に想像しながら楽しむ。煎茶会ならではの遊びの技である。

The sun has already fallen outside. The full moon is visible in the night sky. Imagine such a scene with customers and enjoy it. This is a play technique unique to Senchakai.
