おばけたちは ニンゲンを ビックリさせるのが 大好き。
ニンゲンの 世界に行っては いつも おどろかしてる。
Spooks like to scare Hue Mans.
They always go to the Hue Man world and surprise them.
子どものおばけ パッチも
ニンゲンを ビックリさせるため
おどろかせかたを まいにち 勉強してる。
だけど…
Little Patti the Spook studies how to surprise
the Hue Mans day in and day out.
But…
実はパッチは ニンゲンが 大好き。
ビックリさせるんじゃなくて 仲良くなりたい。
Really though, Patti loves Hue Mans.
Patti wants to be friends with them.
他のおばけには
「いっしょに ニンゲンを おどろかせば いいじゃないか」
「なんで みんなと ちがうことを するの？」
「おかしな おばけだ」
っていわれるけどね。
どうすれば ニンゲンと 仲良くなれるかな。
All the other Spooks say,
"Why don't you scare Hue Mans too?"
"Why are you different?"
"You are a weird spook"
How can Patti be a friend to Hue Mans?
ねこに なっちゃうのは どう？
キャンディーに なっちゃうのは どう？
How about becoming a cat?
How about becoming a candy?
テレビを いっしょに 見るのは どう？
おふろに いっしょに 入るのは どう？
How about watching TV together?
How about taking a bath together?
いろんな作戦を ためしてみたけど なかなかうまく いかないな。
きょうもニンゲンと 仲良くなれないまま パッチは家に 帰ってきた。
Patti tried many different ways but they never work.
Again today, Patti couldn't be friends with Hue Mans and went back home.

パッチの うしろに 小さなニンゲンが ひとり。
なまえは…… マユちゃんだって。

There's a Hue Man behind Patti.
Named……Mayu.
マユちゃんも パッチと 仲良くなりたかったみたい。
It seems like Mayu-chan wants to be friends with Patti, too.
いっしょにあそぼう！

きづけば お空は みかん色。
そろそろ おうちに 帰らないと。
さみしいね。
When they realized the sky had turned the color of an orange,
now it's time to go home.
That's sad.

ニンゲンの 世界にある マユちゃんの おうちで もっとあそぼう！

Let's go to Mayu-chan's house in the Hue Man world!
さぁ マユちゃんの おへやに ついたよ。
なにして あそぼうかな。

あ… パッチが 机に ぶつかったみたい。
「マユ、帰ってきたの？」
あれは マユちゃんの ママとパパ？
Now we are here in Mayu-chan's room.
What should we play?
Bump!!
Oops, Patti ran into the table.
"Mayu, are you home?"
Are they Mayu-chan's mom and dad?
おどろかしちゃったかな。
おどろかしたくなかったな。
なにか いやなことしちゃったかな。
またいっしょに あそびたかったな。
Did I scare them?
I didn't mean to scare them.
Did I do something wrong?
I wanted to keep on playing again.
あれれ？
遠くの方から 小さなニンゲンが ひとり。
Huh?
In the distance, a small Hue Man.
マユちゃん！
ママとパパに パッチのことを 話してくれたみたい。
「さっきは ごめんなさい。いつでも あそびにおいで」だって！
Mayu-chan!
It seems she told mom and dad about Patti!
"I'm sorry about what happened.
You can come play any time", they say.
こんどは なにして いっしょに あそぼうかな。
What should we play next time?
つぎの日。
パッチは いつもどおり ニンゲンを ビックリさせる お勉強。
だけど…
As usual, the next day,
Patti studies about how to surprise the Hue Mans.
But…
いまは ひとりじゃないね
