Are we allowed to pretend that we don’t know anything? - Oct. 17, 2023
I often see news about the Islamist militant group Hamas invading Israel these days. I know that Israel and Palestine have been in a hostile relationship for many years. So, when I heard this breaking news, I actually thought, “Oh, no… Not again!” Moreover, I wondered why they keep engaging in such a fierce battle for so many years. It is difficult to fully understand the history between these two nations and the feelings of those who live there. Therefore, I sometimes feel like I want to stop thinking about and working on this complicated issue.
Probably, there is nothing we can do to solve this super delicate situation, but we should be interested in it now that we know about it. What kind of attitude is right? I can’t take only one side. It’s okay to stay interested and focus on our own things. Both are right, but I can definitely say we’re not allowed to pretend that we don’t know anything.
