読書記録:The Psychology of Contemporary Art①

電車の中で読む軽い読書に加えて、専門書を毎日最低2パラグラフをじっくり読み進めることに決めた。
今電車で読んでいるのは、Christine Templeの「PICASSO'S BRAIN THE BASIS OF CREATIVE GENIUS」。
少しずつ読み進めていこうと思うのが、Gregory Minissaleの「The Psychology of Contemporary Art」。

The Psychology of Contemporary Artの序文より。

Whether it is the interlocking colours and forms of the Sistine Chapel ceiling that suggest an intricate dance through history, the harsh lighting and broken glass of Picasso’s Guernica assaulting beauty, or Damien Hirst’s disquieting cows in formaldehyde that transform art’s aesthetic tryst with death into a laboratory, alaughterhouse or freak show, works of art may arouse our wonder or ire.

一文が長い英文、高校時代の教材思い出して楽しい。

システィーナ礼拝堂は、この前イタリアに行ったときに見てきたけれど、もう何が何だかわからないくらい。言葉を失った。なんじゃこりゃ。
ゲルニカは美術の教科書に載ってるもんね。みんな知ってる。
最後のはさっぱり知らなかった。ふーん…って感じ。

知らないアートはたくさんあると思うので、画像を調べながらゆっくり進めていきたい。
