さぁ祇園祭 July in Kyoto: official start of Gion matsuri

七月の京都
祇園祭りが1日に始まった。
長刀鉾のお稚児さん達が八坂神社へ参拝する「お千度の儀」、2日には山鉾巡行の順番を決める「くじ取り式」。各鉾町に響くコンチキチン（お囃子の練習）と暑い京都の町が一層熱く盛り上がる。

The Gion Festival has begun on the 1st of July by 'Osendo no Gi' ceremony. 'Ochigosan' the young boys dressed who will ride on the Naginata Hoko visit the Yasaka Shrine and pray for the safety of the fesetival. On the 2nd, there's the 'Kujitori-shiki,' where the order of the procession for the Yama Hoko floats is determined.
The sound of 'Konchikichin' (practice of festival music) resonates through each float district, and the already hot streets of Kyoto become even more lively and spirited."
