お久しぶりです。１年とちょっとぶりでございますね。
ふじいまるです。

だいぶん長らくお時間ちょうだいしてしまったのですが、
遂に、おもじばなし第２弾！完成致しました。

次のお話はナンジャラホイと。
発表いたします。

英語版「MOMOTARO」です！

また桃太郎じゃねえかと。そう言うことです✨
タイトルに既に書いてあるのに、引っ張ってる文章をここまで読み飛ばさずに御目を通して下さりありがとうございます。

完成までむちゃくちゃ時間がかかってしまったのですが、
「#1『桃太郎』が完成したら英語版も作ろう」と、実は＃１の創作中からずっと考えていたのです。
電波に乗せれば文字も音も映像も一瞬で海を越えられるのですから、本当に凄いことですよね。
ならば作品を電の波に乗せて、光の海に浮遊させたいとそう考えたのです。

そんなわけで、英語版『MOMOTARO』

 『MOMOTARO』

prologue：This story takes place in Japan a long time ago.
                       in the story, we meet an old man and his wife, a huge peach,
                       the main character Momotaro, horrible ogres, and
                       Momotaro's friends.
                       You will get you know who his friends are in the story. 
                    この物語の舞台は、昔々の日本です。
                    そこに現れるのは、お爺さん、お婆さん、大きな桃、主人公の桃                      太郎、恐ろしい鬼たち、そして桃太郎の仲間です。
                    桃太郎の仲間ひとりひとりには、物語の中で会えますよ。

Na(Narration)： Once upon a time, far in the countryside of Japan, there lived an old man and his wife. They loved each other dearly but alas, had no children. One day, as was usual, the old man went to the mountains to chop firewoods, and the old woman went to the river to wash clothes.
And there.... a huge peach came floating down the river.
Na：昔むかし、あるところに、おじいさんとおばあさんが住んでおりました。二人はたいそう仲良しでしたが、子供がおりませんでした。ある日のこと、いつものようにお爺さんは山へ柴刈りに、お婆さんは川へ洗濯へと出かけました。すると…、川上から大きな桃が流れてきました。

Old woman：Wow, wow, wow, (catches the peach) what an enormous peach! Well, I must take this home to my husband.
Come on, up we go. Yup, yup, yup, yup, yup, huh.
婆(おばあさん):うわぁぁ、うわぁ、(桃を掴まえて) はぁ、大きな桃じゃ。
よし、おじいさんへのおみやげにしよう。
よっこいしょっと。うんせ、うんせ、うんせ、うんせ、はぁー。

Old man：….Oh dear. (驚きの感嘆詞と妻への呼びかけ)
爺(おじいさん)：おばあさん。
Old woman：… Yes, dear.(お爺さんへの返答として「ほんとうに、まぁ」と言う感じ)
婆： おじいさん。
Old man：What an enormous peach!
爺：なんと大きな桃じゃ！
Old woman：Domburakko Domburakko, It came floating down the river.

婆：どんぶらこっこどんぶらこっこと流れて来よった。
Old man：Oh, my lord! 
...Oh... Oh...??

爺：はあーたまげた！(桃が揺れる)
....お、お..??
Old woman：Oh... Oh...??
婆：お、お..？

(桃が割れる)　

？：Ogyaa…!! Ogyaa…!! Ogyaa…!!

？：おぎゃあ、おぎゃあ、おぎゃあ.....！
Old woman：Oh, my goodness.... Ah, it's a boy.
婆：あいやーこ、こりゃぁ… 。あ、男の子じゃ。
Old man：So, it is!

爺：ほんとうじゃ。
The boy：Ogyaa…!!

男の子：おぎゃー
Old woman：There, there, my sweet.(これは自分の子供への呼びかけだけれど、桃が甘いということにかけている)
婆：おお、よしよし。
Old man：Let us name him Momotaro since he was indeed born from a peach.
爺：ばあさんや、この子は桃から生まれたから桃太郎と名付けよう。
Old woman：Momotaro Peach Boy, that's a good name.
婆：桃太郎、いい名前じゃあ。
Momotaro：Ogyaa…!! Ogyaa…!!
桃(桃太郎)：おぎゃー、おぎゃー
Old man：Oh, such a strong voice he has; grow strong my boy!
爺：おおお、大きな声で泣きよって、可愛いこじゃ。元気に育て、
Old woman：Momotaro.
婆：桃太郎。
Na：They decided to raise the baby boy as their own.
Na：二人は、この子を我が子として育てようと決めました。



Old man：Time to eat.
爺：さあ飯じゃ。
Momotaro：Yes! time to eat! .......one more bowl please! .......one more bowl please! (「one more bowl please! 」repeat)
桃：いただきます。 ........おかわり！........おかわり！........おかわり！........おかわり！........おかわりーーー！

Na：Momotaro ate and ate. And before you knew it, he grew up to be a handsome young boy.
Na：桃太郎はご飯をたくさん食べて、あっという間に大きくなりました。

Na：Meanwhile…
On the other side of the village, horrible ogres often appeared stealing food, snatching children, and doing all kinds of horrible things that tormented the villagers.

ところで・・・その頃、村にはおそろしい鬼が現れて、物を奪い、子どもをさらい、ありとあらゆる乱暴を働いて、村の人たちを苦しめておりました。

Old man：I’m afraid it wouldn’t be long before the ogres would find our house.
爺：きっと、近いうちにわしらの家にも鬼がやってくる。
Old woman：... Yes, husband
婆：… はい。
Old man＆Old woman：Wooooow!!!!

爺・婆：うわーー！
Momotaro：I will go to the island where the ogres live and kill them. I want to protect this village, and I want to protect you! 

桃：おらはこれから、鬼の住む島へ行って、鬼を退治してきます。おら、この村も、おじいさんとおばあさんも、守りてえだ。
Old man＆Old woman：・・・・・
爺・婆：・・・・。

Na：The old man and his wife made some millet dumplings and travelling clothes for Momotaro’s departure.
Na：おじいさんとおばあさんは、桃太郎のためにきび団子と晴れ着を作ってやりました。

Old woman：These millet dumplings make you strong enough to fight a thousand men.

婆：このきび団子はな、食べれば千人分の力が出るんじゃ。
Momotaro：Thank you. Fare well!

桃：ありがとう。それでは行ってまいります。
Old woman：Haaaaa.....

婆：はああ…。
Momotaro：I promise…
桃：必ず.....
Old woman：You promise…?

婆： 必ず.....？
Momotaro：・・・・・・
桃：...........。

Old woman：Promise us you’ll return safely.
婆：必ず...無事に帰って来て、くれやな。

Na：Thus, Momotaro set off for the island where the ogres lived. As he travelled, he came across the forest where the dogs lived.

Na：こうして桃太郎は、鬼の住む島へ向かって出発しました。桃太郎が歩いて行くと、犬の住む森にさしかかりました。

Dog：Woof! Woof! Woof, woof, woof! Momotaro, Momotaro. Where are you going?
犬：わん！わん！わんわんわん！桃太郎さん、桃太郎さん。どこへ行きなさる。

Momotaro：I'm going to the ogre island to fight the ogres.

桃： 鬼の住む島へ、鬼退治だ。
Dog：Woof! Let me to come with you! The ogres attacked our part of the forest last night, and my family has suffered badly.
犬：わん！僕も行きたい！実は、夕べ鬼がおらの住む森で大暴れして、仲間が散々な目にあったのです。
Momotaro：Come! I'll give you this millet dumpling.
　
桃：よおし。それではこのきび団子をあげよう。
Dog：I feel powerful already! Let's get rid of the ogres! Wooof!

犬：元気がもりもり出てきたぞー！いざ鬼退治へ、わおーん！
Dog：Us dogs are more loyal than anyone else. Woof! I shall never forget your kindness! I shall repay you for saving my life. Woof! 

犬は誰より忠義を尽くす。わん！助けてもらったご恩のお返し！わんわん！任せてくだされこのおいら、きっとお役に、あ、立ちましょう。
Momotaro：Ogre island, here we come!
桃：いざ行かん、鬼が島！
Dog：Wooof!
犬：わおーん！
Na：
Thus, the dog became his ally.
Na：こうして、犬が仲間になりました。

Na：Soon after, they came across the forest where the monkeys lived.
Na：やがて今度は、猿の住む森にさしかかりました。
Monkey：Momotaro, Momotaro. Where are you going?

猿：桃太郎さん、桃太郎さん。どこへ行きなさる。
Momotaro：We’re going to the ogre island to fight the ogres.

桃：鬼の住む島へ、鬼退治だ。
Monkey：Let me come with you! All of my folks in the forest have been eaten by the ogres. Let me come and revenge!

猿：わしも行きたい！わしの森の仲間はみんな、鬼たちに喰われた。どうしても仇を取ってやりたい！
Momotaro：Come. I'll give you this millet dumpling.

桃：よし。それでは猿くんにこのきび団子をあげよう。
Monkey：I feel powerful already! Uki! Uki! Uki! Uki! Ukiki!!! Let's get rid of the ogres!

猿：うわー、 元気がもりもり出てきたぞ―。うきっうきっうきっうきっ、うきき！いざ、鬼退治へ。うきき！
Monkey：Us monkeys are more intelligent than anyone else. We see, hear and speak! I'm so excited! Leave it to me, you shall never regret taking me on! Ukikikiki!!! Uki!
猿は何より知恵が効く。うき！ 見る・聞く・喋る、うきっ、お手の物。うきききっ！任せてくだされこのわしが、きっとお役に立ちましょう。うきききっうき！
Momotaro：Ogre island, here we come!

桃：いざ行かん、鬼が島！
Monkey：Ukiki!!!

猿：うききー！
Na：Thus, the monkey became his ally. 

Na：こうして、猿が仲間になりました。


Na：Soon after, the three came across the forest where the pheasants lived
.
Na：やがて今度は、雉の住む森にさしかかりました。
Pheasant：Momotaro, Momotaro. Where are you going?

雉：桃太郎さん、桃太郎さん、どこへ行きなさるの？
Momotaro：We’re going to the ogre island to fight the ogres.

桃：鬼の住む島へ、鬼退治だ。
Pheasant：Let me come with you! Last night, those ogres came and attacked us and our forest. I must have my revenge!

雉：あたしも行きたい！昨夜、鬼どもがやってきて、あたしたちの森を散々荒らしたんです。仇を取りたい！
Momotaro：Then come. You shall have this millet dumpling.

桃：よし。それではこのきび団子をあげよう。
Pheasant：I feel powerful already! Keen keen keen!!! Let us fight the ogres!

雉：元気がもりもり出てきたぞー！ケーン、ケーン、ケーン！いざ鬼退治へ！
Pheasant：The courage of us pheasants is mightier than the mountains. Fearless guide am I. You shall not be disappointed! 

雉：雉の勇気は山より高い。恐れを知らぬ案内人。任せてくだされこの私、きっとお役に立ちましょう。
Na：Thus, the pheasant became their ally.
Na：こうして、雉が仲間になりました。



Momotaro：So, this is the ogre island....

桃：ここが鬼ヶ島か・・・。
Na：A rocky island of ogres. As they got off the boat, they saw a huge iron gate towering in front of them.
Na：岩だらけの鬼の島。降り立つと、目の前には大きな鉄の門がそびえ立っていました。
Pheasant：Let me go and spy inside the gate.

雉：私が中の様子をのぞいて来ましょう。
Momotaro：Good. Go, Pheasant.
桃：うん。頼んだぞ、雉くん。

(雉、飛んで行き、門の内側の様子を覗く)

Pheasant：Nobody's home!

雉： 誰もいませーん！
Monkey：Now is my turn.
猿：今度はわしの出番だ。
Momotaro：Good. Go, Monkey.

桃：うん。頼んだぞ、猿くん。
(猿、鉄の門をよじ登り、内側から錠を外す)

Monkey：I've unlocked the gate! 
猿：鍵が開きましたぜ！
Dog：I'll take it from here! 

犬：ここからはおいらにお任せを。
Momotaro：Good. Go, dog.
桃：うん。頼んだぞ、犬くん。
(犬、クンクンと嗅ぎまわり、ピンとくる)

Dog：I smell the ogre over that way!

犬：鬼たちはあっちにいます！
Momotaro：Good work. The enemy is close by. Here we go!
桃：よおし、敵は近い。みんな行くぞ！

Momotaro Monkey Dog Pheasant：Yeah!! Ukiiii!! Wooof!! keen!!
桃・猿・犬・雉：やー！・うきー！・ワン！・ケーン！

Momotaro：Here I come! The strongest man in Japan, Momotaro!

桃：我こそは、日本一の桃太郎！
Boss ogre：Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha. Momotaro?

大鬼：はっはっはっはっは。桃太郎ぅ？
Pheasant：Keen!! You're the one who attacked our forest! Keen!!

雉：ケーン！あたしたちの森を荒らしたのはお前だな！ ケーン！
Monkey：You're the one who ate all my folks!!

猿：わしの仲間を全員喰ったのもお前だ！
Dog：And my family! Wof!! Wof!!Wof wof!! Wof!!
　
犬：おいらの仲間も！わん、わん、わんわん、わん！
(猿、犬、雉、大鬼に飛びかかって行く)
Boss ogre：Fuck off! You scum! Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha! I'll just finish you off, shall I?! Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!
大鬼：だあーら！(猿犬雉を弾き飛ばす) カスどもが！ふははははーはー！
とどめを刺してやるわい。ふははははーはー！

Momotaro：Ogre! You really pissed me off, now! You will be sorry!  Yeah!
桃：おに！おらぁ、ほんとに怒ったぞ。 成敗してくれようぞ！やー！(大鬼を斬る)
Boss ogre：Waaaaaaaa!!!!!!!


大鬼：わーー！！
Momotaro：So, do you promise you will never attack anyone again?
桃：どうだ、二度とみんなに迷惑をかけないと約束するか？
Boss ogre：I, I promise. I'm sorry, I won’t do it again……!!
大王：や、約束します。ごめんなざい、ごめんなしゃい。



Na：So, Momotaro took back what the ogre had taken from the villages, loaded the boat, and went back to his village. As he travelled back, he went from one village to the next, returning their possessions.
Na：桃太郎は、鬼が人から奪った物を取り返し、それを船いっぱいに積んで、自分の村へと帰りました。そうして、自分の村にも、隣の村にも、そのまた隣の村にも、奪われた物を返して周りました。


Momotaro：Zzzzz, zzzz, zzoogg, gooff, zzzooo.

桃：(桃太郎、昼寝をしている) ぐー、ぐー、ぐーふがっ、ぐー.....。
Old man：Ooh, how well he sleeps..!

爺：おお、よう寝とるわ。
Old woman：He must be tired.
婆： 疲れたのでしょう。
Momotaro：I am the strongest man in Japan, Momotaro! Zzzzoo, goo….

桃：ふがっ我こそは、日本一の桃太郎だぁー。ぐー、ぐー......。
Old woman：Well, well... Huh-huh.(Well, well とは「まあ、まあ」とか「あれ、まあ」という慣用句)

婆：まあ....！ふふふふふ。
Old man：Well, well... Huh-huh.　（ここで Well, wellというのは「よくやった」という気持ちにもなる）

爺：ふわあぁぁ......ふふふふふ。
