JR東海が30日の東海道新幹線（三島-名古屋間）の計画運休を発表：2024年8月30日（金）

これは，東海道新幹線の「のぞみ，ひかり，こだま」のすべてについて，三島駅から名古屋駅の区間を計画運休するとの発表だ。加えて，東京駅と三島駅の区間，および，名古屋駅と新大阪駅の区間については，1時間で上下線2本程度に減便して「こだま」を運行するとJR東海が発表した。つまり，東京駅と新大阪駅の区間で移動を考えている人は，30日は終日，東海道新幹線では移動できなくなることを意味している。
ところが，8月29日午後3時半過ぎ頃に放映された某テレビ「◯◯◯◯」では，あろうことか，東京駅から新大阪駅までは大幅に本数を減便した「こだま」で移動ができると報道し，訂正しないまま，番組の放送を終了してしまった。このことについて，その某テレビ局側でも察知したのか，その番組終了後，某テレビ系列のニュースでは，何度も繰り返して「東海道新幹線は，8月30日の終日，三島駅から名古屋駅の区間を計画運休する」との情報を流し続けた。
このことから，何を教訓とすべきか。緊急時や切迫した情況のもとでは，ベラベラと喋りまくるような報道番組は必要なく，正確な情報をシンプルに報道することが，何よりも重要だということだ。期せずして，今回の出来事は，私たちが入手する情報については，常に複数の種類の情報媒体で相互にチェックすることが重要であることを示す好個の事例ともなった。

Due to the approach of Typhoon No. 10 (for which the scientific mechanism is currently unclear, making it very difficult to predict its path), Central Japan Railway Co.(JR Central) announced yesterday morning, August 29th, that it would carry out a planned suspension of the Tokaido Shinkansen between Mishima Station and Nagoya Station for the entire day on August 30th, starting with the first train.
This announcement pertains to all "Nozomi," "Hikari," and "Kodama" services, which will be suspended between Mishima Station and Nagoya Station. Additionally, JR Central announced that it will reduce the number of "Kodama" trains to approximately two round trips per hour on the sections between Tokyo Station and Mishima Station, as well as between Nagoya Station and Shin-Osaka Station. This means that those planning to travel between Tokyo Station and Shin-Osaka Station on August 30th will be unable to do so on the Tokaido Shinkansen for the entire day.
However, on August 29th, just after 3:30 PM, a certain TV program titled '○○○○' reported that it was possible to travel from Tokyo Station to Shin-Osaka Station using a significantly reduced number of 'Kodama' trains, and ended the broadcast without correcting this information. Perhaps the network became aware of the mistake, because after the program ended, the news on the same TV network repeatedly broadcast information stating that 'The Tokaido Shinkansen will have a planned suspension of service for the entire day on August 30th between Mishima Station and Nagoya Station.
What lesson should we take from the event? In emergencies or critical situations, it is paramount to provide accurate information simply, rather than through lengthy discussions on talk shows. This incident unexpectedly served as a prime example of the importance of cross-checking the information we receive using multiple sources.
