Came across a wordy and somewhat unclear sign while walking in Nakano Ward.

We were able to grasp the full message, but only after a couple of minutes and guesses. We’d like to make a few suggestions: the first one being “use spellcheck” and “add a space after commas”!

中野区をお散歩中に発見した「自転車放置規制区域」の看板。🚳

タイポだけでなく、ところどころで伝わりにくい英語になっていました。👀

📝英訳すると “Illegal Bicycle Parking Regulated Zone” のような感じになりますが、長くなりますし、実際のところ「放置された自転車を規制する区域」＝「駐輪は禁止の区域」となるため、その意味を簡潔に表現しました。

📝”removal expense” は分かりにくいです。撤去されて保管された場所からの “removal” の意味かと思われますが、removal は「撤去」「除去」の意味もあるため、「何の」「何からの」removal なのかが明確ではありません。
📝「引き取り」が “taking over” と英訳されているようですが、どちらかというとこれは「乗っ取る」「責任などを引き受ける」の意味なので、不自然です。自転車の引き取りなので、reclaim や retrieve の方が適しています。
📝手数料は handling fee と訳せますが、この場合 retrieval fee または reclamation fee としても良いです。
📝JP5,000 yenの表記は違和感があります。通常、日本円は JPY と表記します。よって、JP と yen を分けて表記せず、5,000 JPY と表記します。また、日本なので　JPY と表記する必要性はなく、yen で十分です。
