Visitation and sorting out processed food
I came to Osaka to see my parents today. My father and I visited the hospital to see my mother after lunch.
It was my first time to see my mother face to face after her hospitalization. Her recovery seems to be going well and she was talking cheerfully as she usually does. I was glad to see her smiling.
Her pain from surgery also seems to be gone. She can move her legs better now and use the wheelchair to move around. She still needs to continue exercising to walk. My father heard from the doctor that she may be able to come home before the New Year's Day. We're not asking her to rush though. If she needs time to recover well enough to walk, she should be taking time. I am relieved to see her getting better.
After we came back from visitation, we were organizing food in the refrigerator and cabinets. My father was trying his best to use up the food in the refrigerator. He was doing well. I didn't need to look in there much to see the expired food.
However, there were many processed food that my father couldn't look around to see if he could use them. My mother had a bad habit to buy food too much. I was trying to tell her not to buy too much whenever I came home. She buys products at the grocery stores without checking what she has at home. So there were many processed food that were expired. The most old one I found was by 2018. This might be better than I thought.
Since the garbage collection day is tomorrow, I sorted out the products that were expired. It took about an hour or so to organize them. It was good that I had a chance to do this. We can see better now in the cabinet. My father can now try to use them if he wants to. He never looked in the cabinet, and also didn't know what was in there.
My father and I only bought some food for tomorrow's breakfast. That's all we needed to buy. My father was trying to figure out how he could use up the food at home. He told me he was only buying what he needs such as yogurt, bread, and fruits. My mother kept food stock in the refrigerator such as meat, fish, and vegetables. There were still some left, so we will keep trying to use them up during my stay.
My parents are both trying to do what they each can do for themselves. I was happy and relieved to see them trying their best for each other. By the way, I am not forgetting about my brother. He is just always busy working and being a good dad for his family. I hope we all can stay healthy as possible and enjoy our life.
I apologize for writing so long today. Thank you so much for reading my note.
