Erhu and Chinese

I had my erhu lesson today, both group and individual. I enjoyed my time with my teacher and other students.

Thesedays, I have more chances to learn new Chinese songs. They are folk songs or classic music for erhu. It's interesting to learn them and they fit to the erhu's sound. I still can't play well enough, but I am enjoying as much as possible. 

When learning the new Chinese songs, I always have trouble with the language Chinese. I can't read the title of the songs. Moreover, I want to know the background of the song or music to play them. Some songs originally have the lyrics and sang by artists. 

Though the title is written in Chinese characters, it's different from the Japanese ones. The characters are simplified and looks different. Therefore, I have been interested in studying Chinese to learn more about erhu and the songs I play.

During my university days, I have studied French for the required classes. However, I wasn't so interested enough to continue studying. If I knew about erhu at that time, I would have chosen Chinese. My time of schooldays will not come back, so I need to deal with my time now.

I actually bought a textbook for Chinese conversation about an year ago. At that time, I tried to read through the book and also tried the Duolingo app to study. However, I couldn't continue well and couldn't find a way for a good start to learn a new language. It was difficult to concentrate and I couldn't memorize the phrases. 

I would like to find a way to study Chinese that fits me and make at least 5 to 10 minutes study time a day. I might stop studying again but I will try my best to continue.
