万生集（生きる目的・理由・コツ）76 ～Manseishu／collection of meaning and knack of life～

風という自然現象を推進力として利用する走法は帆走であり、人間は自然現象をコントロールすることはできない。利用する側が風に合わせなければならない。

安全に楽しく外洋を帆走するためには、Seaworthy(波や風に強い)なヨット、万全な整備、シーマンシップが必須条件なのです。静かな優しい海、荒れ狂う海、どちらも海なのです。

私たちはどんな海にも真面目に、謙虚に、勇敢に対峙し、生き残る術を身につけなければなりません。それがシーマンシップなのです。

The way of running, uses wind of natural phenomenon as the driving force, is sailing. And human can not control the natural phenomenon. The side uses must adjust to the wind. 

Seaworthy yatch, complete maintenance and seamanship are the indispensable conditions to sail the open sea safely and happily. Both calm gentle and raging sea are sea.

We should stand face to face with any sea seriously, modestly and bravely, and learn how to survive. That is seamanship.
