April 1, 2022：4月1日、エイプリルフール、2022年度初日 (April 1, April Fools’ Day, First Day of Fiscal 2022)
Today is April Fools’ Day. It is the one day of the year when it is acceptable to play jokes and pranks on friends and strangers. In the past, it was popular even in Japan, and some TV stations made prank shows. Recently, I have hardly seen them and news relating to the day.
This year has many events which I wish had been jokes or lies. One of them is the Russian invasion of Ukraine. It has destabilized and confused the world. Resource prices like crude oil are rising, and we are in the face of a weakening yen. The future looks bleak.
In other words, they encourage us to transform Japan or ourselves. Today is the first day of fiscal 2022 in Japan. I have to get a fresh start.
4月1日はエイプリルフールの日。この日だけは「罪のない嘘やいたずらで笑わせてもいい」という習慣です。昔は、この日はテレビでいたずらをする番組がありましたが、今ではニュースになることもなくなりました。
でも、今年は、嘘やいたずらであって欲しいと願うことが山のようにあります。ロシアによるウクライナ侵攻が最たるものです。このお陰で、世界は不安定し、混乱しています。原油などの資源価格が高騰し、円安にも見舞われています。お真っ暗に想えます。
見方をかえると、最近の出来事は日本や自分自身に変革を迫っているとも言えます。今日は、2022年度の初日です。心機一転頑張ります。
