May 21, 2022: Paris, Cabarets, Le Lido, （パリ、キャバレー、リド）
I am sad to hear that Le Lido, a renowned cabaret in Paris, France, is closed at the end of May. About twenty-five years ago, I had been there three times. It was on the Champs Elysees Avenue. It performed a two-hour female dancer show with dinner. It was spectacular and thrilled me so much, and one of the most memorable events.
The dancers were very glamorous and elegant. But, most of them come from areas other than France, and French dancers were very few. It was no wonder that they were taller and had a better shape than average French.
It is also true for Maiko in Kyoto, an apprentice of a Japanese traditional female entertainer. Most of them come from parts of Japan other than Kyoto.
I had also been to another cabaret Moulin Rouge in Paris. The show was similar to that of Le Lido. But, it had more French traditional taste and included that famous French Cancan dance. The last one I visited in Paris was Crazy Horse. It had an atmosphere different from Le Lido and Moulin Rouge. It performed a pole dance by nude female dancers. It was sexy but less spectacular than Le Lido.
フランス・パリの老舗キャバレーの「リド」が5月待つに閉店するらしい。寂しいです。25年以上前の話ですが、「リド」には3回ほど行ったことがあります。店は、パリのシャンゼリゼ通りにありました。食事付きの2時間程の女性ダンサーによるショーでした。ショーはすごく華やかで、ワクワクしました。こんな華やかなショーは、生まれて初めてでした。
ただ、パリの地元出身のダンサーは希で、ほとんどがフランス以外の出身だそうです。どうりでフランス人にしては、背が高く、体格がいいわけです。京都の祇園の舞妓さんに地元出身者が少ないのと同じですね。
パリでは「ムーランルージュ」というキャバレーにも行きました。ショーはリドと似ていましたが、リドよりフランスの伝統的な風情があり、あの有名なフレンチカンカンダンスもありました。
最後に行ったのが「クレイジー・ホース」です。こちらは、「リド」や「ムーランルージュ」とは雰囲気が違いました。トップレスの女性によるポールダンスショーでした。セクシーではあるものの、華やかさという面では、「リド」や「ムーランルージュ」の方がよかったです。
