March 30, 2022：変な人、ウオーキング、インソール交換 (Eccentric, Walking, Replacing Insoles)

There is a man who does something strange in my town. He goes walking every day. However, he sometimes sits on a bench or the edge of a tall flowerbed during the walking. Then, he removes his right shoe and an insole inside the shoe and takes other insoles from his coat pocket, some of which are cut in half or to one-third. He inserts one of them into the shoe. He stands up, checks the height of the shoe and begins walking again. After he walks several tens of metres, he again sits on a nearby bench. There seems to be something wrong with the shoe. He removes the insole again and replaces it with another insole. He repeats the replacement many times during the walking. Asked what he is doing, he will say that he is walking, but others will see it as a shoe check. It is my routine.

　ボクの街に奇妙な人がいます。毎日ウオーキングをしているのですが、時々、ベンチや高い花壇の縁に座るのです。そして、靴を脱ぎます。決まって、右脚です。そして、コートのポケットからインソールを取り出して、それを靴にインソールを入れています。インソールは数種類あるようです。中には、半分や三分の一に切っているものもあります。インソールを入れたら、靴を履いて立ち上がります。そして、足踏みをします。高さがあっているか確認しているようです。そして、ウオーキングを再開します。数十メートル歩くと、また、近くのベンチに座ります。そして、靴を抜いて先ほど入れたインソールを取り出し、別のインソールを入れています。先ほどのインソールの高さが合わなかったようです。靴を履いて、ウオーキングを再開します。これを何度も繰り返しています。ウオーキングと言うより、靴の高さを調整するために、歩いているように見えます。これが、ボクの日課です。
