February 25, 2022: Amazon、配送サービス、地元の書店との競争 (Amazon, Delivery Service, Competition with Local Bookstores)

 Amazon is still improving its services. When I ordered a magazine, I could receive it on the same day. It is a big surprise to me. When I ordered it, I noticed a message that I would receive it on the same day. But I did not believe it since I had received my previous orders on the day following the day on which I ordered. I am happy with the same-day delivery of some products.
 Popular magazines seem to expose Amazon to more severe competition than books. Amazon may have to compete with local bookstores and other online retail competitors. There is a small local bookstore within a five-minute walk from my home. It is poor at the lineup of books like novels but has a full lineup of popular magazines. Accordingly, I should have bought it at the store since it is the quickest way to get the magazine. I have used online shopping so much that I did not think about using the store.

　Amazonのサービス向上が加速しています。午前中に注文した雑誌が当日届きました。画期的です。ボクの地域は、東京近郊のため翌日配送が普通でした。この雑誌を注文するときに、「当日配送」という文言があったのですが、半信半疑でした。全部の商品が当日配送になったわけではありませんが、一部でも当日配送になるとうれしいです。
　人気の雑誌は、書籍より競争が激しいのかもしれません。他のネット通販だけでなく、近所の書店とも競争しなければならないようです。ボクの家から歩いて5分くらいのところに昔から書店があります。規模が小さいため、小説などの書籍の品揃えは良くありません。でも、人気の雑誌はあります。よく考えると、注文した雑誌は、この書店でも買えました。ネット通販慣れしているボクは、この書店を利用することをまったく思いつきませんでしたが、この書店で買うのが最速の方法でした。
