August 9, 2023: FIFA+, No Commentator （FIFA+、解説者なし）

Since the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup took place, I have been enjoying it a lot and am very excited about it. I have been more excited about it than before. I am as excited as when Nadeshiko Japan won the Cup in 2011. It is thanks to their great performances. I have never missed watching Nadeshiko’s matches live. I have been also enjoying other matches between foreign teams. So before the Cup took place, I had expected some matches between foreign teams to be run on TV, but none. So I have to watch them on FIFA+. But FIFA+ was much better than I expected. Every match has Japanese reporters. I do not know who they are, but they are very good at live commentary. They tell us exactly what is happening in the game and their commentary is very easy to listen to. I feel like I am listening to a live radio broadcast.
It also has another good point. It has no commentator, which allows me to focus on and enjoy the match. Every live sporting event on TV has commentators in Japan. I admit that the commentators have a point. But their comments are so noisy to me that I cannot focus on the game. So I make it a rule to watch the games on mute. Then, I can focus on the game and imagine a lot of things about the future of the game. It is my best way to enjoy live sports events.
I really hope that Japanese TV stations will have a TV channel on which I can watch games without commentators.

　ただいま、サッカー女子ワールドカップを満喫しています。今回は、2011年になでしこジャパンが優勝したときの同じくらい盛り上がっています。これも一重になでしこの活躍のおかげです。なでしこの試合は欠かさず見ていますが、海外チーム同士の試合も楽しんでいます。大会前は、海外チーム同士の試合も数試合は、テレビ中継されるかと思っていたのですが、中継はまったくありません。そのため、FIFA+を利用しています。これが、期待以上に重宝しています。すべてのライブ中継に、日本語の実況がはいっています。中継している方がどの方はわかりませんが、どの中継も上手です。試合の状況を正確に伝えくれ、かつ聞きやすいです。ラジオの生中継を聞いている感覚になります。
　これは、もう一ついい点があります。解説者がいないおかげで、試合に集中して楽しめます。日本では、すべてのスポーツの生中継に解説者が付きます。解説者のコメントは的を得ていることはわかっているのですが、ボクには邪魔で、試合に集中できません。そのため、試合をミュートで聞くことにしています。試合の先を自分で想像しながら見たいのです。これが、スポーツの生中継はミュートで聞くのが一番です。
　日本の放送局には、是非とも、スポーツを解説者なしで中継するチャンネルを設けてほしいです。
