April, 2, 2024: Professional Baseball Season（プロ野球のシーズン）

The professional baseball season has started. My favourite, the Hanshin Tigers, played against the Yomiuri Giants for the first three games. But it was lost to the first two games in a row. These losses brought me back to the nightmare in the 2022 season, where it had only won three games in the first twenty-three games. I was apprehensive that it might repeat the same thing in this season. But it was an unnecessary worry. It beat the Giants in the third game. And that, it won the game in the same way as it had done last season. The starting pitcher, Hiroto Saiki, kept the team scoreless until the 6th inning, which awakened the batters and helped them to score in the eighth inning. When I was watching the game, I thought that it could only win if the batters at the bottom end of the lineup got on and came to the plate with a hit from one of the top three batsmen of the lineup. Then, as I expected, the third batter, Shohei Morishita, achieved it! He hit a three-run home run in the eighth inning. The home run pleased and relieved me very much, and at that moment, I was sure that it would win the game with no doubt.
This win is valuable for the team. It will enable all the players to play as they always do. But I have some concerns about the team. In particular, I am very concerned about the fifth batter, Teruaki Sato. He was disastrous in the three games and did not show anything that set my expectations. Nor did the eighth batter, Seiya Kinami, show a good performance. He also struggled with batting. On the other hand, pinch-hitters, such as Kento Itohara, Ryuhei Obata and Sheldon Neuse, have done very well and have made me expect their future performances.

　プロ野球が開幕しました。大好きな阪神タイガースは、開幕3連戦で読売ジャイアンツと対戦しました。でも、初戦から連敗。この敗戦で、2022年シーズンの悪夢が蘇りました。その時は、開幕から23試合で3勝しかできなかったのです。今シーズンも同じことを繰り返すのではないかと不安になりました。でも、取り越し苦労でした。第3戦で巨人を破りました。しかも、昨シーズンと同じような勝ち方で。先発の才木投手が6回まで無失点に抑えてくれたことで、打線が目覚め、8回の得点につながりました。試合を見ていたときは、下位打線が出塁して、上位３人の誰かにヒットがでないと勝てないと思っていました。すると期待にたがわず、3番の森下選手がやってくれました！８回に3ランホームランを打ってくれたのです。このホームランで、大喜びすると同時に安心しました。また、この瞬間に勝利を確信しました。
　この勝利はチームにとって非常に価値があります。これで、選手全員がいつも通りのプレーができるようになるでしょう。でも、いくつかの懸念があります。特に、5番打者の佐藤選手は非常に心配です。3試合の成績は惨憺たるものでした。また、期待を抱かせるようなプレーは見られませんでした。また、8番打者の木浪選手もいいところがありませんでした。彼も、バッティングで苦しんでいるようです。その一方で、ピンチヒッターで出た糸原、小幡とノイジーの３選手の活躍は素晴らしかったです。今後の活躍を期待させるものでした。
