February 19, 2023: Sauna (1), Shigeo Takahashi, Finland （サウナ、高橋茂雄、フィンランド）
The sauna is still in huge demand. It attracts a lot of entertainers, too. One of them is Shigeo Takahashi, a member of the comedy duo Savanna. He is not so much as a sauna fan as an enthusiast. He bought a holiday house about two hours away from Tokyo to enjoy it. He has two saunas there. One of the saunas cost him about two million yen from Estonia. He recently got married. His partner is also a sauna fanatic. The sauna is their god of marriage. For their honeymoon, they went to Finland and Estonia which are famous for saunas.
I have been to Helsinki, the capital of Finland, many times. I visited a Finnish company on business. It was one of the major Finnish companies. What surprised me was that it had a sauna in the office. That reminded me that the sauna took root in the nation, though I had heard that Finland was the home of saunas. Unfortunately, I had no chance to take it. But it must be used for business meetings with local customers.
サウナのブームが続いています。芸能人にもサウナオタクが一杯います。その中の一人がお笑い芸人の高橋茂雄さんです。お笑いコンビ・サバンナの一人です。高橋さんのサウナ好きは本物です。東京から2時間くらいのところに買った別荘には、サウナが２つあります。一つは、わざわざエストニアから輸入したもので、200万円くらいしたそうです。また、高橋さんは、最近、結婚されました。お相手も熱狂的なサウナファンです。サウナが二人の縁結びの神様でした。そんなお二人の新婚旅行は、サウナの聖地であるフィンランドとエストニアだったそうです。
フィンランドの首都・ヘルシンキにある会社をたびたび訪問しました。その会社は同国の大企業の1社でした。びっくりしたのは、この会社のオフィスにはサウナがあったことです。フィンランドはサウナの本場とは聞いていましたが、これを見た時は、この国にサウナが根付いていると改めて感じました。残念ながら、僕はこのサウナに入る機会はありませんでしたが、きっと、商談などで利用されているのだと思います。
