“Coyote Places the Stars” is a retelling of a Wasco Indian legend. It tells the story of a crafty clever coyote who went up to the heavenly sky. As he rearranged the stars with his bow and arrow for all his friends to enjoy, the constellations of the sky were said to be made.
The illustrations created using dyes on cotton fabric gives readers the feeling of the land and ignites our curiosity to gaze up at the sky.
『シェルパのポルパと冬虫夏草』is a tale of a boy of the Sherpa people of Nepal. The boy sets off on a quest to find the herb that would cure his sick grandmother. With the help of his best friend Pumori the yak and of the big mythical yak, he is able to complete his journey.
The story and distinct artwork of the Sherpa series will take readers on a journey across mountains and will remind us that nature is here to help. If only we are willing to listen and respect them.
