We used to live in a tiny house with a blue roof.
　　私たちは　青い屋根の　小さな家に　住んでいました

It was suddenly ruined early in the morning of winter.
　　冬の早朝　それは突然　台無しになりました

My mother and sister were crushed to death.
　　母と妹は　押しつぶされて　死んだ

The town itself was destroyed, and everything came to a halt.
　　町自体が破壊され　何もかもが　止まってしまった

Relief didn't arrive for days.
　　救援は　何日も来なかった

Out of fuel,
unable to bear the cold,
Dad began to dismantle what had used to be our house,
weeping.
　　燃料も尽き
　　寒さに耐えかね
　　父は　私たちの家だった物を　壊し始めました
　　泣きながら

Setting fire to those timbers,
he survived with me
the dark, freezing nights.
　　その木材に　火をつけ
　　暗くて　凍える夜を
　　生き延びました　私とともに

I was three years old.
　　私は　三歳でした

The fire at that time was hopelessly sad.
　　あの時の　あの炎は　絶望的に悲しかった

But it was solemn and brilliant.
　　しかし　それは　厳粛で　輝かしかった

Above all, so so warm―
　　何より　とても　とても　あたたかかった――

That I wondered if everything had been a dream.
　　何もかも　夢だったのではないかと　思うくらいに。
