シンプルだけど秀逸
やることはとてもシンプルで、この文章をいくつかのポイントを意識しながら読むだけ。
"My friend gave me a lift yesterday.
he picked me up from the train station
and dropped me off at the airport
because I needed to catch a flight.”
動画を見て実際に練習してみると、Elliottが用意したこの例文がいかに秀逸かが分かります。
・Phrasal verbs（句動詞 pick up, drop off）
・Connected speech（話すリズムを保つために、言葉をつなげる）
・Stressed words and Weak Forms（単語の強弱）
・Schwa
・Diphthongs
・Intonation（イントネーション）
イギリス発音として代表的にあげられる「Schwa」や「Diphthongs」の他、ネイティブが自然に話している時に使っているこれらのテクニックや表現が詰まっています。
発音とリスニングの関係性
よく知られていることですが、こうした発音のテクニックや英語のリズムを理解し繰り返し練習していくと、次第にその音に耳が慣れていきます。すると、実はネイティブは「速く」話しているのではなく「伝えたいことがより伝わりやすいように」意識して話しているのだと理解できます。

Simple but Effective
All you have to do is to read the sentences below. But please be aware that there is a knack to reading them.
"My friend gave me a lift yesterday.
he picked me up from the train station
and dropped me off at the airport
because I needed to catch a flight.”
If you watch the video and practise with the sentences, you will find out how remarkable they are.
・Phrasal verbs.（pick up, drop off）
・Connected speech.（To help you keep the rhythm of speaking)
・Stressed words and Weak Forms.
・Schwa.
・Diphthongs
・Intonation.
With practice, you can learn some techniques native English speakers use whenever they speak in real conversation, as well as learn the schwa and the diphthongs, which represent the modern RP British accent.
The Relationship Between Pronunciation and Listening Skills
Although this is a well-known fact, if you understand those techniques and the rhythm of English, you will be getting familiar with its sound. And later on, you will realise that native English speakers don't necessarily try to speak faster, but they emphasise more what they want a listener to hear.
