1:Tell us more about your background
During preschool, I was not very athletic and used a lot of difficult words and Kanji. During Middle School I hosted a radio show at an all boys school. In college I spent my summer and spring vacations getting tan while working at a dive shop in Okinawa. After I spent an extra year in college to travel around the US, I joined beBit as a usability consultant. I felt I had no chance at competing with my colleagues and seniors, so while I tried to keep up, I also tried to find other ways I can contribute to the company. Because of this, I stopped working as a consultant and spent a few years in a flexible role changing every year. In recent years, I’ve been doing sales-like work. A little back, I was married for about 5 years. Nowadays, I work hard while living my life enjoying watching sports, drinking, and traveling around the country.
2:Why did you join beBit?
When I was bored of job hunting, I received a suspicious email through Rikunabi saying “We apply cognitive science and psychology to business.” After attending the suspicious info session, I went through the interview and internship, and finally I became more suspicious of the company. I’m glad I joined.
3:Tell us about your department’s responsibilities and missions
Our mission is to “plan, execute, and promote market development and sales generation of the UX Intelligence (UX Growth Model) with a three year vision on business growth.” To put it simply, we do sales and marketing. We believe that it is our job to communicate to the market the values of “a business model that continuously improves UX” and provide an opportunity to actually experience the value as well.
4:What does your team do best in the company?
I believe we would be the most fun to party with.
We’re a group of unique characters who are constantly thinking about the enjoyment of others, so it should be a fun environment!
We will strive to be the best in terms of contribution to the company as well.
5:Tell us one thing you like most about beBit
As long as you are serious about work, there are not many unnecessary hassles that stop you from spending time in a relaxed atmosphere. The people who work here are great. I’ve only worked at beBit, but I’ve recently come to learn that not all companies are like this, which has made me even more grateful.
6:Tell us how members who (may) work with you should communicate with you
Please try not to hold back! (...does anyone hold back?)
Part of my job is to take the first step forward, even when I can’t see in front of me. At times, this causes me to take a step in the wrong direction. I intend to listen to any advice people may have, so don’t hesitate to make a comment.
Also, as many of you may already know, I tend to wander off into my thoughts during conversations. I apologize for this!
7:Are there any individuals in senior management with abilities you find amazing?
I think it’s very impressive (and fitting) that Endo-san* is a strong mahjong player. Also, Nakajima-san’s* ability to over-exaggerate his stories to an extreme is something I seriously respect - no joke.
I’m not very aware of everyone else’s abilities, but I’m sure everyone is amazing.
*Naoki Endo: CEO of beBit
*Katsuhiko Nakajima: Executive Vice President of beBit
8:Tell us your goals in your department, mid- to long-term vision, and what you expect from your team members
I feel that we have yet to become a strong organization that can take responsibility and promote business growth. I hope that we can work together as a team to make this happen.
9:Is there anything you would like to keep in mind for the future of beBit?
I hope that we continue to be a company that is meaningful to society.
10:Finally, a passionate message for the employees!
I hope that we can take on many meaningful challenges together!
Also, this is completely unrelated, but I’m going to be “station master for the day” at Kofu station! Isn’t that amazing?
