迷って見つける道

今日は娘の付き添いで埼玉大学に来ました。
1キャンパスに5学部。構内は長閑です。ベンチで横になって寝ている人を2人見ました。時間の流れがいいですね。

道に迷う

途中私達が道に迷っていたら、スリランカ出身の学生さんが英語の地図を持って声を掛けてくれました。直前に娘が会釈をされたと言っていたその男性でした。

ドライバーの振る舞いが研究対象

私が Thank you. と言って彼から地図を受け取ったのを契機に、私たちは5分〜10分程度の立ち話をしました。会話の中で、彼は日本の企業と一緒に、朝霞市の小学校周辺の交通に関する調査を行っていることを私に伝えました。具体的には、この研究はモビリティ車両が通学路に進入する際のドライバーの行動に焦点を当てています。これらの車両は、遠隔操作で時速40キロから30キロに減速されます。この遠隔操作技術のモビリティ車両制御およびモビリティユーザーの意識や振る舞いへの影響を調査するのが目的です。

今回の会話を通じて、少子高齢化が著しい地域で歩行者に必要な交通システムについて考える機会を得ました。年齢や身体的な能力に関係なく、すべての人々が安全かつ利用しやすい交通システムを作ることが重要です。私は、この研究がモビリティ車両の速度制御だけでなく、ドライバーやモビリティユーザーの行動や態度を理解することに焦点を当てていることに興味を持ちました。

The English translation is as follows:

After thanking him and receiving a map, we chatted for about 5 to 10 minutes. During our conversation, he informed me that he was conducting research on transportation in the elementary school area of Asaka City with a Japanese company. Specifically, his study focuses on driver behavior when mobility vehicles enter the school commuting route area. These vehicles are remotely decelerated from 40 km/h to 30 km/h, and the aim of the research is to investigate the impact of this technology on the control of mobility vehicles, as well as the awareness and behavior of mobility users.

This discussion allowed me to reflect on the transportation system needed for pedestrians in areas where aging populations and declining birth rates are prevalent. It's essential to create a transportation system that is safe and accessible for all individuals, regardless of age or physical ability. I found it fascinating that the research is not solely focused on controlling the speed of mobility vehicles, but also on understanding the behavior and attitudes of both drivers and mobility users.

ところで、私は外国人留学生と育むエリアマネジメントやまちづくりに興味があります。現在職場で一緒に働いているフランス人インターンの両親がスリランカ出身です。スリランカに縁のある彼らには、足立区宮城のスクールゾーンで同様の調査研究をする機会に手伝ってもらおうと考えています。2人ともお喋り好きな印象がありますが、まだ日本語で直接会話することができません。彼らの日本語力を引き上げる支援をする一方で、娘の英語力を引き上げて通訳兼調査コーディネートを頼むのがいいかもしれません。今回の英会話は3割程度わかったそうですし、音楽専修志望なだけあって耳が良いので。あとは喋るだけです。

ペデストリアンデッキ

今回のキャンパス見学では、道に迷うのは道を発見する秘訣だと改めて思いました。人が現地に足を運ぶことで得られた体験や記憶が地図で表現されることはありません。ちなみに、今回探していた構内の道は、工学部棟をつなぐペデストリアンデッキ（高架型の歩道）でした。
