About Mami Sakato, a senior freelancer

Sakato-san appeared on our live-streaming twice.
I met Mr. Sakado at work, but now we are good friends in private as well, and I immediately report to him about mysterious omake that came with things I bought on Mercari, or unusual things that happened at work sites. Last year, when I was using Mercari for work, I was surprised to receive a gift of Koshihikari rice from Niigata.

Profile of Mami Sakato
After graduating from a graphic design school, joined a visual art company, mainly working as a decoration assistant and art facilitator at commercial sites Independent as a freelance decorator (set decorator) since 2017

The day's virtual live-streaming will be available on YouTube, so be sure to check it out!

The subtitles are so bad that I and Sakato-san are not very smooth, so I I recommend you to watch it with subtitles when you are free.

When I was in high school, magazines were everything.
I thought this was fate (meeting the company I would end up working for).
I was (as it turned out) lucky that I had a passion for so many things (professions).
Set decorators are not a waste of experience.
I feel like I'm being swept up in social networking.

In elementary school,Sakato-san loved to draw, and in junior high school she became fascinated with music. In high school, she became interested in fashion under the influence of magazines and learned about the job of art director from a magazine feature and decided to pursue it.
She went on to a graphic design school, where she learned the joy of designing while spending his days chasing after assignments.
When she finished his graduation project and was thinking that it was time to find a job, she found out about the company he would be working for in the near future through a post on SNS by an art director she admired. (What is a set decorator (job description)? I was wondering "What is a set decorator (job description)? While working there, She realized that the job suited her, and she have been a decorator since quitting the company and becoming a freelance decorator.
As for school, she is glad she went because she learned how to learn, how society works, and how to interact with friends. However, I wonder if it would have been different if there had been online classes back then.

Ever since she was a child,Sakato-san has been straight-forward in what she loves and proactive in what she is interested in. I felt that she was very honest with herself and very good at grasping timing and luck. She used the media of the time to get the information he wanted to know and to connect with others. I think it is very difficult to act honestly and straight-forwardly as an adult.
Sakato-san told us that when he was a student, she liked Japanese class and was especially good at problems in which she had to think about the author's feelings. Imagination is very important in the work of a decorator. By becoming the characters in each set, the decorations become more realistic, and by imagining various patterns, you can avoid problems at the site. I felt for the first time that Japanese language classes can be used for such things.
I think it is because Sakato-san has mobilized all of his experience and worked diligently at her job that he can say that he has been interested in various things since he was a child, and as a result, she has been able to apply his interest in various things to his current job, and that no knowledge is wasted in a decorator's experience.

 Sakato-san buried in a photo

We had her talk about how assistants talk, what to watch out for in the movie set, decorations, etc. I'd love to do an installment in the future where she teaches us about decorating as Sakato-san!
I think it would be helpful for both those who are currently working as decorators and those who are currently at a company and want to become freelancers in the near future.

Sakato-san is still active in commercials, but he told us that next year she would like to spend more time on his own while still working.
Being able to handle her work schedule to some extent on his own is something that is possible only for freelancers.
We look forward to seeing more of your work in the future!
We look forward to seeing you in class Sakato-san!
