ホスピタリティ

日本に最初に『ホスピタリティ』という言葉を紹介したという力石寛夫（ちからいしひろお）さんの講演を聞く機会に恵まれました。

自身の師とのアメリカでのエピソードや、感謝のお手紙を通して紹介される二人の店員の良き行い。究極の接客の物語に『泣かないぞ』と思いながらも最後には勝手に涙がぽとり。

ゆっくりしたお話の仕方、しゃんとした姿勢、落ち着いた視線。お話の中身だけでなく存在全てに講師の品格があらわれており、大変感銘を受けました。一流ってこういう方なんだなと。席に着く時も帰られる時もしっかり目を見て会釈をしてくださったことも印象的でした。

著書の「ホスピタリティ〜サービスの原点ー」は、35刷を重ねるロングセラーだそうです。

早速図書館で借りてきました。

会場の帝国ホテルはやはり豪華で、会議前に少し新緑の川沿いを散歩して深呼吸。

大切なものを吸い込んだ大阪の一日でした。

I had the opportunity to listen to a lecture by Hiroo Chikaraishi, the person who first introduced the word "hospitality" to Japan. He shared stories from his time in America with his mentor and recounted the good deeds of two store clerks through thank-you letters. Although I resolved not to cry, I found myself shedding tears by the end of his ultimate tales of customer service.
His slow, deliberate manner of speaking, upright posture, and calm gaze conveyed not just the content of his speech but also his distinguished presence, leaving a deep impression on me. This is what it means to be a top-tier professional. I was also struck by how he made eye contact and bowed politely both when he took his seat and when he left.
His book, "Hospitality: The Essence of Service," is a long-seller, having gone through 35 printings. I borrowed a copy from the library.
The venue, the Imperial Hotel, was as luxurious as expected. Before the conference, I took a brief stroll along the fresh green riverbank and took a deep breath. It was a day in Osaka where I took in many important things.

さて、英作文をするのが一番の学習法だと最近思うので、最後は使ってみたシリーズです。

ああ、才能が欲しい～。
まあ、当面は、睡眠を良くとって気力をただし、粘り強く頑張るのかな！
