その写真を見たとき、僕はなんとも不思議な光と影だなんと思った。
スケール感もわからない。
その光は、絶対太陽光、その直射光だと確信した。
証拠は、その影にある。
太陽の光は、平行線だ。細密に図っても正確な平行線を保っている。
撮影者は、ごく普通の主婦。この言い方には少し嘘がある。
しかしたしかに専業主婦だった彼女は、結婚してから、ずっと夫中心の生活を過ごしていた。夫はまだまだ現役だが、それでも自由な時間をわずかながら持てるようになった。
ある時写真を撮りたいと思った。
撮りたいイメージはすでにあった。家の中の、さんんさんと太陽の光が差し込む明るいバスルームだ。
そこの光が昔から好きだった。
その光のなかで撮ってみた。
そのシリーズを2年間続け、
ある時、突然写真を撮る熱が消えてしまった。

綺麗な光が差し込み、家事も終わり一人ゆっくりできる時間に気の向くまま
自宅で撮っている。
被写体は家の中にあるお気に入りの画家やグラフィックデーザイナーの
カレンダー、本、花、ミニチュアの椅子、ワイングラスなど、色々組合せを考え、光の入り具合を見ながら被写体の角度や位置から“影”を探し、三脚なしの手持ちで撮影。
例えばグラスにモンドリアンを組み合わせてみると、影が線の中で動きだし
美しい赤が浮かび上がる、その瞬間にシャターをきる。
記念日や特別な日には花屋に立ち寄り、買い求めた季節の花をカレンダーの黒線上に、
１本、２本、３本とのせると、まるで家族のように見えてくる。 また数字の丸みに花弁や葉をおいて、好みの形を作ったりもしている。
１日の中でもわずかな時間差で織りなす光と影の思いがけない動きに驚きながら好みのモダンアート風な表現を求めて時間を忘れ、楽しみがなら、撮ってきた写真を纏めたのがこの作品集です。The room is bathed in a beautiful light – I take a little time after finishing off the housework to snap some photos as the mood strikes me.
My subjects are calendars featuring my favorite painters or graphic designers, books, flowers, miniature chairs, wine glasses... Watching the direction of the light, I
arrange the angles and positions of these objects, looking for the right shadow, and with camera in hand, start taking photos.
For instance, if I arrange the objects in a Mondrian-like composition, the shadows play within the lines, bringing forward an exquisite red – at that moment, I press the shutter button.
I place seasonal flowers I stopped by the florist to buy for anniversaries or other special days along the black lines of the calendars – lining them up, 1, 2, 3 – they look like a family together. I then take petals and leaves, laying them down on the curvature of the numerals, making shapes as I please.
This is a collection of photos taken while I enjoyed losing track of time at slightly different times of the day, the unexpected movement of the ever-changing, interweaving
light and shadow always surprising, in pursuit of expressions of modern art that I find appealing.
