すでに、10冊以上CRPを出版している、ShogoMiyataの新作。
English follows長いプロジェクトが終わろうとしていた時に、終わったら旅に出ようと思った。
そのプロジェクトは、無謀な挑戦とも思えたが、多くの人の助けもあり無事に終えられそうだという満足感があった。同時に、会社員生活と言う41年の大プロジェクトの区切りでの、人生の終章という実感でもあった。
どこに行くかということを考えると、地の果てという言葉が浮かんだ。以前訪れたハワイ島の最南端の岬、カ・エラ岬もイメージした。ちょうど、その頃に、ジョアン・ジルベルトが亡くなった。彼の「Chega de Saudade（想いあふれて）」は、好きな曲の1つだった。人生の終章に、サウダージという言葉は、ふさわしい気がした。それで、サウダージをイメージする街としてリスボンを思いついた。そこは、ユーラシア大陸の西の端に近い街でもある。
出かけた1月は、観光シーズンではないために、寒々しかった。歴史を感じさせる、心地良い程度に薄汚れた街は、まさにサウダージだった。中世から続く古い街で、ファドを聴いたり、大西洋に注ぐテージョ川の河口を見て過ごした。
When the long project was about to end, I decided to go on a journey after it was over.
The project seemed like a reckless challenge, but with the help of many people, I was satisfied that it was likely to be completed successfully. At the same time, I felt that it was the final chapter of my active life.
When I thought about traveling, the word "end of the earth" came to me. I also imagined Cape Kaela, the southernmost cape on the Big Island of Hawaii that I visited before. Around that time, Joao Gilberto died. His "Chega de Saudade" was one of my favorite songs. At the beginning of the final chapter, the word, Saudade seemed appropriate. That's why I came up with Lisbon as a city that imagines Saudade. It is also a city near the western edge of the Eurasian continent.
It was in January. So, there weren’t many tourist. The historic and dingy city was exactly Saudade. I spent every day listening to Fado and watching the mouth of the Tagus River, which flows into the Atlantic Ocean, at the old town that have continued since the Middle Ages.
