Japan wants to encourage more people to use electric vehicles to reduce emissions. 

The transport ministry 

is planning to install 

more charging facilities 

along roads to make eco-friendly vehicles more convenient for people to use. 

As of March 2021, 

there were 877 

charging stations 

at roadside rest areas and 383 at service or parking areas next to public roads. 

An experimental charging station was set up in Yokohama. 

It is in a safe location, 

in a lane alongside 

a public road. 

It has been used over 200 times per month. 

Due to its popularity, 

it will likely remain there indefinitely. 

The ministry also wants to make more charging stations available in urban areas where parking spaces are limited.

ー日本で電気自動車用充電スタンドが増設ー

日本は、排出ガス削減のために、より多くの人に電気自動車を利用してもらいたいと考えています。運輸省は、環境に優しい自動車をより便利に使ってもらうために、道路沿いに充電設備をさらに設置する計画です。

2021年3月現在、充電ステーションは道路沿いの休憩所に877基、一般道路に隣接するサービスエリアやパーキングエリアに383基設置されています。横浜市は実験的に充電ステーションを設置しました。公道沿いの車線という安全な場所に設置されており月に200回以上利用されています。好評につき、今後も設置される予定です。
駐車スペースが限られている都市部ではより多くの充電ステーションを利用できるようにしたいと考えています。
