To find out,
Adecco,
a Japanese company,
asked 900 elementary and junior high school students.
Many younger boys
want to be sports players
or police officers,
which are their second and third choices.
Driver and baseball player are also popular choices.
But the new,
most popular job
is video content creator for sites like YouTube.
Older boys have more
practical dreams.
Game maker and YouTuber are still on the top ten list.
Today's girls
want to be teachers,
doctors, or nurses.
These are the second, third, and fourth choices for younger girls.
The surprise
is that the top job
for both young girls (22%)and older girls (18.3%)
is patissier,
or French pastry chef.
Many Japanese homes don't even have ovens.
But a famous girls' anime
is about a girl going to a French pastry school, so this could be why that's their dream job.

ー日本の子どもたちの夢の職業は？ー
今、日本の子どもたちはどんな仕事に憧れているのでしょうか。それを知るために、日本の企業であるアデコが小中学生900人に聞きました。
男の子は、スポーツ選手や警察官になりたいという子が多く、それが第2、第3希望になっています。運転手や野球選手も人気があります。しかし、最近人気なのは、YouTubeなどの動画コンテンツ制作者です。高学年の男の子は、もっと現実的な夢を持っています。ゲームメーカー、YouTuberは依然としてトップ10にランクインしています。
女の子は2位、3位、4位が先生、お医者さん、看護師さんでした。驚いたのは、低学年と高学年ともに1位がパティシエ（フランス菓子のシェフ）であることです。日本は、オーブンさえない家庭も多い。でも今有名な少女アニメがフランス菓子の専門学校に通う女の子を主人公にしているので、それが憧れの職業になっているのかもしれませんね。
