Cityscapes. You might hear that cityscapes are almost the same everywhere. Indeed, many cities had developed rashly after the war. Especially, Hiroshima was in a critical situation. Most of the buildings were built at the same time, and now is the time to update them. Some buildings will be rebuilt, and some will be renovated. What kind of cityscapes do you expect for the future?

都市の風景．日本中どこも似たような都市の風景だと言われる．確かに戦後の建設ラッシュによって日本の都市は均質化しており，特に壊滅的な状況にあった広島の中心街は，ほぼ同時期に建設されたビルで埋め尽くされている．そして今やそれらの多くが更新時期を迎えているのだ．あるものは建て替えられ，あるものは改修される．さて，僕らはこの時代にどんな都市の風景を期待するのだろうか．

I have spent most of the days here in my hometown Hiroshima, and I am often gazing at Seto Inland sea and the islands like Miyajima. I never tired of its view because of the scenery changes its expressions every single second. However, sometimes I can feel I'm in another city when I saw the similar scenery that I saw somewhere sometime.

人生の殆どを生まれた地であるここ広島で過ごし，いまは少し高い住宅地から宮島や瀬戸内海を眺めている．常に表情を変えるその眺めは飽きることがない．だが、街中を移動しているときなど，ふと，日常的に暮らしているのにまるで旅をしているような気分に出会うことがある．何処かで見たことがあるような別の都市の景色．それは自分の記憶か，またはどこかで見た写真の記憶か.

The photography seems like a casual conversation lately. We can see and absorb so many images like the food you never tried or the place you never been to. The reality of the image is so fragile. It is the image seen by someone else in my hand. It's hard to prove if it's true or not.

写真といえば，それは今では会話のようなものだ．手のひらのデバイスで数多の写真をブラウズしながら，食べたことのない料理や，行ったこともないのによく見る景色に浸っている．そこに映し出されているもののリアリティは希薄だ．誰かが見ている景色．今ではそこに写っているものが本当なのか嘘なのかも分からない．

However, it is unerasable the feeling when you see the image. It doesn't matter if the photograph tells you the truth or not. The only thing you can trust is the feeling in your mind when you see the image. What's what you are seeing? Everywhere is nowhere.

でも，何かを見たときに心に沸き起こった感情は消えることがない．その写真が本当のことを語っているかどうかはもはや問題ではなく，その感情や脳裏に浮かんだイメージだけが唯一信じられるものだ．目の前の風景を見ながら，僕らは本当は何を見ているのだろう．どんな場所も結局はどこにもない場所なのだ．
