The OSI reference model is showing the procedure of communication in a network by dividing the method of communication into seven layers according to the flow of data delivery.

Layers 1 to 4 are defined as the lower layers, and layers 5 to 7 are defined as the upper layers. The lower layers deal with communication protocols for signals that are closer to machines. Handle communication protocols for human-like applications as you move up the layers.
