綺麗な存在になりたいなー

 次の人生は
宝石とかでいいんじゃないかしら。

悩むことも
考える必要もない
綺麗な無生物で。

 鳥は皆自由化な。

羽があることは
非常に良いことだ。

Paradise and Hell

The title of this exhibition also refers to the bird of paradise.

When first introduced in the 16th century, this species was a "legendary bird of heaven".

In the 19th century, the first Westerner to see the bird of paradise alive was Alfred Russel Wallace (1823-1913), author of The Malay Archipelago (1869). He was both impressed by its beauty and concerned about what would happen if civilized men discovered the bird.

Unfortunately, as Wallace predicted, what the bird of paradise itself experienced afterward was no such thing as paradise. Until the fashion of feathered hats became obsolete, it was victim of a long period of overhunting.

It is only ironic that

when man thought of reaching paradise,
hell opened up for the birds.
