今回は2019年に発売された、Bustedの4枚目のアルバム『Half Way There』より『What Happened to Your Band』について。

『What Happened to Your Band』はアルバム『Half Way There』の3曲目。
タイトル通りバンドをテーマにした曲で、少々エモーショナルな歌詞とギターのサウンドが素敵な曲となっています。
Bustedは2000年に結成しましたが、2005年に解散してしまいました。
ちょうど僕がハマった頃には解散していたのが非常に残念でしたが、2015年に再結成しましたし、今年の秋には日本公演も決まっています。
秋の公演のチケットは無事取れたので参加するのを楽しみにしています。
さて、この『What Happened to Your Band』はBusted解散後、メンバーの1人であるジェイムスが書き下ろした曲で、その後彼が参加したバンド、Son Of DorkとMcBustedでセルフカバーされた曲となっています。
McBustedはMcFlyとメンバー脱退により2人となったBustedのコラボバンドで、アルバムも1枚リリースされています。
こちらも3曲目に『What Happened to Your Band』が収録されていますね。
「バンドの解散」をテーマにした歌詞であるため、1度解散しているBustedにとっては割とセンシティブな内容の楽曲となっています。
それでもアルバムに収録されているのは凄いですし、解散という過去を受け入れて前に進んでいる感じがあって良いですね。
まとめ
こんな感じで、Bustedの『What Happened to Your Band』の紹介でした。
解散したバンドをテーマにした楽曲で、10年間解散していたBustedのダークな部分が表面化した楽曲となっています。
Bustedの解散の理由もメンバーの1人が脱退を表明したことによるのですが、詳しい事情がわからないけどその後よく戻ってきて再結成したと思っています。
その後10年近くまた活動を再開していますし、今度は日本でも講演してくれるのは嬉しい限りです。
きっと3、4枚目のアルバムの曲はセットリストにはないと思いますが、思い出の名曲たちを生で聴けるなんて夢のようですね。
