This June, President Biden signed an act and Juneteenth became a federal holiday.  June 19th, 1865 is that day slavery officially ended in the US. 
That reminded me of the book “Black Like Me”, a documentary published in 1961. The author, a white journalist, alters his skin color "dark" by medication, and goes for a hitch hike journey in the deep deep South.

アメリカで黒人奴隷制度が廃止された6月19日が、正式に国の祝日となりました。このニュースを聴いて『私のように黒い夜』という本を思い出しました。
この本は、8年前に先生に薦めていただき、日本語が見つからなかったので英語で読みました。
本当に素晴らしい本で、何度も塾の生徒さん達に内容を話しています。今日はその思いを動画でも語ってみました。
