Abstract
Faroese electric company, SEV, has said that it aims to achieve 100% renewable electricity in Faroe Islands by 2030. The underwater kites named ‘dragons’ may help the energy goals.
Dragons, which like small planes that measure 5 meters wide, could make a power of electricity due to swimming below the surface of the ocean, and it is connected by 40-meter cables to the bottom of a strait in the northwest of the Islands. Each kite can produce enough power for 50-70 homes, the BBC reports. The two test kites have already provided their first energy since November 2021. In addition, a larger Dragon, which will be 12 meters wide and able to create more power, will be placed in the strait in 2022.

What are your thoughts on Minesto's Dragon Class power plants?

It is a great development to help the global environment. However, I am worried about the influence of sea creatures or the cost of making energy.
Although there are some ways of making renewable electricity, the cost is normally higher than previous ways. In addition, it will also affect the sea creatures by setting the generation machine in the ocean.
On the other hand, it is known that making energy from fossil fuels will reach the limit. However I think the costly way of generation is difficult to spread and maintain. Then, It is important to search out ways of making renewable energy, which is cheaper and more safe for us and other animals and environments.
